DriveTest Centre - WFT?

My beef!

Ok, I got my M1 on June 20th, so that leaves me 90 days with an M1. You can't go for a M2 DriveTest Centre road test until after 60 days. So that leaves 30 days to try and book a road test. The problem here is they didn't tell me that I should have booked my road test when got my M1. Because they told me that there's only available opening (Sept. 16th) and that's 2 days before my M1 expires. Soooo... if I fail the road test (which is unlikely, but stranger things have happened) I won't be able to do another road test since my m1 expires on Sept. 18th. WTF?????

The options I now have are:

1. Go to another DriveTest Centre that's why out of my area (Ajax)
2. Go to a DriveTest Centre that's close (Oshawa) and wait there hoping someone will cancel or not show up
3. Do the Durham College M2 Course

Anyone else know of other options?

You just have to book it within 90 days you can set a date for after 90 days and just get an extension on your M1
 
Nope, not according to the person I talked to on the phone. I told them that no one informed me I had to book a road test right after I passed my M1. If I knew that there was so much demand on DriveTest Centre M2 road tests i would have done it :/ Very frustrating.

Maybe I should pop over to the the Oshawa DriveTest Centre and ask them in person.

If you fail, re-book the earliest exam you can. If it falls out of the 90 days, just get them to rubber stamp an extension on your M1. It shouldn't be a problem.
 
I faced a similar situation with my G2 exit. Originally I could only obtain a test date a few days before the expiry. I didn't like the idea of what might happen if I failed.

To help mitigate the risk I booked a closer appointment with the Barrie test location at the earliest opportunity. Fortunately I passed the Barrie test and then canceled the last chance one scheduled just days before it the G2 expiry.

For anyone with time to spare I wouldn't suggest taking this approach as it fills up spots unnecessarily. However it is one of the results of a graduated license system.
 
Isn't that why they ask you when you go to write your M1 if you'll be taking a course or not?
If not they book you a test right then and there...
 
Do the course. The Drive Test M1 Exit test gets failed by many riders all the time. its like 2 in 5 actually pass it and its because its a big money grab. They fail u on the littlest things. The course basically garentees you your M2.

Just go there, sit and wait for a spot to open.. it will open up but you may wait a good few hours.. I've dun this numerous of times lol..

don't beleive this for a second if you can't pass this maybe you should reconsider riding a bike

I'd like to see how many people on this forum with their M2 or full M could pass the slalom test on a sport bike.

I can only imagine... Coordinating throttle, clutch, braking AND knife and fork? That takes some skill. And let's not forget, you have to "blip" a little lemon on there occasionally too.

The person you talked to was smokin something for sure. Personally if I were you, I'd take a safety course.
 
Yea, I probably will since I've heard even veteran riders learn something from that course. So while expensive it would probably be fun and learn a ton of stuff I won't from taking a DriveTest Centre road test.

I believe you misunderstood the requirements and expirey dates of the M1, M2. Your M1 is vaid for 90 days, you can sign up for your M2 test at any time after you recieve the the M1 permit. You do not have to wait 60 days to do the test. What happens is that if you pass the M2 test within 60 days you have to follow the rules of the M1 until the 60 period has lapsed. Then you take your paper work to the drivertest centre and they will upgrade you to the M2 license. If for example you take the M2 test on day 30 and you pass, you only have to wait an additional 30 days to take your M2 papers to the drivetest centre to upgrade to the M2.

In summary:
- M1 lasts 90 days
-Sign up for M2 test anytime within the 90 days
-pass the M2 test , must hold the M1 for a min total of 60 days

I'm not sure why you are ****** with someone else. All the above is expalined in the motorcycle drivers handbook and is part of the M1 written test. Therefore you should of known all the above already.
