standard rule of thumb about used cars. A car loses 15 percent to 20 percent of its value each year.
A new car loses a big chunk of its value as soon as you drive it off the lot.

The base price of a brand-new 2002 Ford Taurus is $19,035, according to Kelley Blue Book. The wholesale price of a 2002 Ford Taurus with just 100 miles on it is $15,390, a drop of $3,645 from its transaction price.

Look at kijiji you will see plenty of bikes with asking prices above what honda is asking for a brand new bike with 0 km. What is it about cbr125 sellers where they think their bike is worth what they paid for the bike?

The problem is that Honda dropped their price on the CBR125R radically. So those folks who bought them pre-2010 paid a heck of a lot more than what they are now. Sucks to be them. I kinda feel bad for them.

Lol, they post higher and expect to get low balled. If someone pays the asking amount of $2200 or close to that, even with agreeing to write a lower amount on the bill, you don't really save much. (prepared to get back fire from 125 riders :happy3:) After year 1 worth maybe $2300 privately, year 2 $1900 year 3 $1500 and it would stay around $1200-1500 for the next 2 or so years. So thoses 2009 cbr 125's should be going for $1700 right now and by the end of the year $1500 and no more.

It's with everyone though...seen a lot of bikes with ridiculous prices. But then you deal with retarded offers, too much hassle.

What do you think about this?....

I don't even bother with CBRs now. I would consider riding one if I could nab a 2008 Red model for $1500. But for $2200+ I would just put a few more hundred into it and get a Ninja 250.

Difference in insurance is only $100. In my opinion, it should be significantly less.

supply and demand. as long as the sellers are gettign close to what they are asking, the prices will not drop.

there no real "rule of thumb" when it comes to used motorcycles

The "rule of thumb" in Ontario is to list your used bike as close to MSRP as possible.

Yeah it's kinda weird how some bikes barely drop in value while others seem to be worth about half of new after a year.... mine fits into that latter category. :P

Honda CBR 125R limited edition 'new' 2009 model

$2,888.00

:agave:

This seller bought the bike for 2299. Pre delivery varies from 250 +. I paid 300. Plated 2977. If you paid the seller 2888 + hst + plate = 3304. :thebirdman:

I think you skimmed over this.(STILL HAVE HALF A SEASON TO RIDE. My insurance lasts until June next year! If you buy it now, you still have half a season to enjoy!)

Does that not make it a good deal? :)

I'm selling my '91 FZR 600 (custom paint-job) for $12799.00 (R6 MRSP - $500)
