3 consecutive times, almost got taken out!

Must be my luck this week, cars have merged on my lane without signalling or looking at their blind spot. The kicker, all three cars coincidentally are driven by young women. Must be a conspiracy to take me out of the equation or something. They probably meet on Friday nights and plan on how to take me out.
:p

Maybe you had some AXE spray on?

I had to dodge three cars in the Esso parking lot in the span of fifteen seconds last night. It keeps you sharp.

@ Dayao12, I couldnt figure it out until your post. Man, motorcycle and axe is a bad combination.

@ redrineri - yah blind spots on gas stations are aweful. I had a car dash out after pumping gas while i was driving in blocked view by a van.

@invictus - yah must be destiny. =0)

You might consider your riding position when you are near cars. Maybe you are in their blind spot? or Maybe you should wear a pink bunny suit to increase your visual conspicuity? Have you upgraded your horn and do you use it?

Maybe you have the magnetism to attract the ladies, but all of them are femme fatales?

I've been swiped off the road already because of this. Now I make it a point to accelerate out of someones blind spot whenever I find myself there.

@Torontoby - The first two i was right by the pasenger window and the last one i was passing the car and right when i hit the blind spot the car swerved too fast all of them with out looking. I am seriously considering a pink bunny suit if this keeps happenning. Where can i purchase one, or better yet would you like to sell yours?

@Ridelieyoustoleit - Im starting to have a feeling it does. HAhahhaha

@Deimos - Thats what i have decided to start doing but i still almost got taken out right as i hit the blind spot. Freakin women, they can just ask for my number right at the red light, they dont need to pretend they accidentally hit me or something. HAhahahahhaha.

This past week was really bad. I think it has to do with the long weekend, plus prime vacation time, plus peak summer. People's minds just aren't with them.

I had more people try to change lanes into me this past week than I have in the past 3 or 4 months. (like you, I had 3 in one day). I figured the incidents on Tuesday were due to hang overs.....

Its not always possible, especially in heavy traffic, to avoid being in someones blindspot. It is, however, always possible to look and signal before changing lanes.

These cagers need to own this.

One of the biggest problems is that 99.9 % of drivers aren't even aware of how to properly set their mirrors. If they're truly set properly-there are NO blind spots. Everyone I've ever spoken to regarding mirrors claims theirs are set right, then realized (after me describing the proper technique) that they aren't.

The second problem is that so many drivers are completely oblivious to their surroundings no matter what...

One of the instructors at the course i took said young women are the absolute worst when it comes to watching for bikes on the road. I work on a delivery truck and spend a lot of time on the roads and highways in the GTA and i couldn't disagree with him. On a daily basis i see girls in cars texting, putting on makeup, talking on the phone, playing with other things.. might sound unfair to single them out versus men or older drivers, but they do seem to be the least attentive and also seem to think that signals on their cars were not meant for them to use. Multiply that by 100 if they are driving beemers or other luxury cars. But that part goes for all drivers. Seems like the higher end the car, the less they feel they need to use signals.

I dunno. So far every accident I've been in was caused by a 65-70 year old men :(

The guy that rear-ended me (and is responsible for the mess my neck and back are now) was driving along for almost a block in the center turning lane. He just never pulled out into the live lane...and then he slammed into me w/o even braking while I was waiting to turn.

Cab driver that pulled a u-turn at me, smelled of alcohol and claimed he never saw the bright red car coming down the street towards him...

The man that pulled the illegal turn across oncoming traffic.... "Sorry, I never saw you!".

Then there was the guy that cut me off by changing lanes when I was merging on to the 'link'...I honked at him as my lane was ending and he'd left me with no where to go all of a sudden. After I merged, I moved to the left lane...he swerved at me and tried to run me into the center meridian. TWICE. I followed him when he took an exit and went to the mall so I could call the cops and give them his description and plate info. He was about 65.

And pretty much every time I lay on the horn because some twit is lane weaving or drifting into my lane...it's an older male driving

65-70yr old men are the bane of my driving world....

This must be a new movie right? Final destination: nite rider

Dude, it doesn't matter. The texting and the makeup, I've seen it. I've also seen guys reading the paper, shaving and turning around to yell at their kids in the back. As far signaling goes, it's pretty freaking rare. I think we should hand out timbits to people who do use their signals.

Probably cause turning on your signals is pretty much a guaranteed way to make the guy next to you speed up.

Good point about mirrors. I've noticed this too. Most people have all three mirrors giving them the same picture (or part thereof) and not making use of the three mirrors to cover their entire rear and sides.

And FWIW, older men are my biggest problem as well and usually driving Buicks. Slow, bad drivers and attitude of "what's your hurry? You must drive at the speed and in the manner I think is good". Which is pretty ironic since I'm getting into the age group of these wankers.
