Road Rage

Do you experience road rage?

I've taken a few mirrors in my riding career but I really really try to avoid roadside confrontations these days. For the most part I just try to remove myself from the situation as safely and as quickly as possible. I do a lot of head shaking, but very rarely do I escalate the situation any further as like the above posters have said.. What are you going to really accomplish? You're just risking making a bad situation much, much worse. Its not worth a criminal record or bodily harm to teach a lesson to some idiot on the road.

I experience roadrage every day. I almost got out of my van at a stoplight the other day. Two pothead tokers were driving around getting stoned. I was following them and could both smell and see them doing it. at a stoplight I pulled up next to them and asked the stoners why they felt that it was acceptable to drive around stoned....and asked them if they might stop after they kill someone's kid. Then the stoner started mouthing off and giving me the finger....and all I could think of was the 4 ft wrecking bar in the back of my truck and how good a dent it'd leave in this dude's skull......it took every ounce of my self control not to act on it.

This is the type of roadrage I experience....and I drive an 8500 lb van that could park on top of Civics without even knowing it. I am the type of rageful person that would follow you home or to your office and block your vehicle in, and confront you, hopefully in front of your neighbours and or co-workers too.

I yell at drivers that throw cigarette butts at me and would like to break their knee caps. If I just get cut off, I call them a bad name in my head.

I really don't know why cigarette butts set me off so much, but at the time, I really want to do bodily harm to the person.

Cigarette butts piss me off more than any thing else and it happens at least a few times a week.

Littering isn't cool.

Not ****ing cool at all.

Didn't you know smokers can do whatever they want? They can litter all over the place, hitting motorcyclists or setting loads of hay on fire. That's no big deal....it's socially acceptable.

For me it's people drive into your path, without looking or caring. People that drive based on the assumption you will see them andget out of their way, not whether they actually have the time amd space to do what they want to do. That's if they even bother looking. But worse than even that....tailgaters. There is a special place in hell for tailgaters.

I wanted to vote often, but then I thought - Hey, I ride 95% of the time out in the country, and there's very little rage out there.
Most times it's not pure rage, it's road annoyance. So, seldom overall.
Cities push me into often.

Thats a good point. If you dont ride in heavy traffic you're general experience would be quite different.

I understand all the "be zen and dont worry about it" element here. And I ultimately agree with it but, seriously, some ****** almost clips your knee while making eye contact with you trying to pass you in your own lane, or a minivan forces you into uncoming traffic becuse they dont want to acknowdge your right of way. This just makes you roll your eyes, nothing more? Cest la vie? Really? Its criminal negect in my books....

Much to my boyfriends disgust, I can let things "slide" while either riding or driving. The angriest thing I've ever thought was "idiot" and roll my eyes at their stupidity. However I don't get worked up about it, I don't wish them harm or wish to do them physical harm when they do something stupid in front of me. Oftentimes, I do wish there was a cop around to give them a ticket to teach them a lesson, but I'm not angry or raging; for me it's a calm observation. Yes, I've been cut off and had a few close calls and been really scared a few times, but I don't translate that into aggression or rage, I simply recognize it for what it is. When these scary situations have passed, I try to figure out how I should have done something different to avoid a similar incident and am generally just thankful that I'm still able to ride away.

However, just because I don't get worked up about the idiots on the road, doesn't mean that I don't find the lack of knowledge or skill displayed by drivers any less disturbing and scary. I do agree with my boyfriends thought that car/truck drivers should have spikes in the middle of their steering wheels rather than airbags. (Save the airbags for passengers.) Maybe they would be a little more cautious when they are personally more at risk of getting hurt. I also think that everyone should start driving with a motorcycle rather than a car because they will learn very early on how important it is to pay attention to what they are doing, but we all know this will never happen.

I do get disgusted reading the "Laws / Regulations / HTA" forum and see so many people who blatently disregard the rules of the road whining like spoiled brats when they get caught. These are the same people who tend to rage and rile at the "idiots" on the road who aren't paying enough attention on the same roads.

What I find the scariest is that I can only see driving attitudes getting worse and not better anytime in the future.

You're a better woman than me Cougra (biologically and otherwise ;))

Road rage will get you killed one day.

Unless someone just came inches from running me over, I just usually let it go. Too many idiots to rage at, not worth my energy.

I just wish somebody makes an after market kit to install a machine gun in front of my bike.... I dont care who's in front of me.. GET OFF THE LANE or I keep shooting till the car catches fire.. :)... How's that for road rage ?? lol

I am only 19 and I never get road rage. I really keep it chill, I know I'm never going to catch up to someone so why even bother? I just like having fun on my bike, so why get mad? Just turn off and away... or ride up a sidewalk, you know, nbd or anything. ;)

****in A man.

****in A man.

I just don't understand potheads and their assumptions that it's okay to get stoned anytime and anywhere. Its almost as though they believe that "everyone does it", and they are completely normal. No one would blatantly and openly drive around with a liquor bottle in their hands, but stoners seem to think it's perfectly fine, and don't even try to hide the fact that they're burning while driving, or before driving etc. Under the influence is under the influence, regardless of what form of drug you are influenced by.

You should have polled with-in GTA or outer GTA. I can assure you that most people that show grader signes of road rage are closer to the core. Also people that ride to and from work would show greater levels of road rage as cagers are always in a rush during these hours. I hope to live and ride in the boonies one day =D

I was riding home the other night and pulled up to a red beside a minivan, opened my visor and got a huge whiff of weed. I should have called 911 but I just took the left instead of riding anywhere near that guy. I've called the cops before when I walked past a car full of stoners getting high. I felt almost as though they 911 operator didn't believe what I was telling them. Next time I'll get the plate and call.

I just got run into the curb on Bloor st by back to back idiots attempting to merge into me as if I was invisible. I almost crashed. I had to speed up to avoid one clipping my rear and then brake to avoid hitting another one attempting to merge into me from the side at the same time. The little bald schmuck then has the gall to yell at me for being in his way (In my own damn lane). Zen be damned, if that little schmuck accepted my invitation to get out of his car I would have gladly ruined both our days.

Seriously though. This city is beyond ridiculous. These people should be killed. By me.

Buddhacide, I don't know how you maintained composure in that situation. I would have definitely followed him to wherever the **** he was going and gave him a personal lesson on manners by ruining his **** thoroughly. Stomp on his ****ing throat.
