Help Needed - Vehicle Purchase Agreement Questions

Hello Everyone,

I'm on the verge of getting my first motorcycle and received the "Vehicle Purchase Agreement" today in my email (I'm getting a 2009 model - new and should get a 12-month warranty). Here are the "interesting" things I've noticed on the agreement:
  1. "Manufacturer's Warranty Effective Date" box is left blank
  2. "Safety Standard Certificate No" box is left blank
  3. Inside the "Mileage" box, it says NA - the bike had 14 kms when I saw on it - is it normal for it to say NA for mileage on a new bike? Is 14kms for a new bike normal too???
  4. "Maximum Distance Traveled on Delivery" box is left blank
  5. The dealer wants me to sign this without even waiting for my driver's licence & insurance info (both those boxes are left blank)
  6. Inside the pricing section, there's a line that says, "Is there a service plan for this vehicle" and a box for "Yes", but it's not checked (everything else is filled in per my conversation with the dealer)
Are these typical for VPAs? I want to make sure that I get my 1-year warranty and don't get screwed over about something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
I apologize that this post may not be of too much help, but in terms of mileage on the bike, I would assume 14km is from factory testing and such, with the car that we got brand new out of the dealership it had 313km on it, so I'm not quite sure.

factory testing should be less than 5km. They might've demo'd on the bike a bit if it's 14kms. My new bike had 0 km on it.
 
I had all those details filled out.

I doesn't hurt to ask to get the details BEFORE signing. If it's too sketch you may want to walk away. You don't wanna get burned, it's an expensive lesson.
 
cant help with most of your concerns but i know when i got my 08 cbr 125 it had only 1/10th of a KM on it, and id assume thats just unloading it at the MS ride and back to the dealership, but if the paper work isnt filled out dont accept, once you sign, youve screwed yourself out of any and all possible services such as warranty work or something being wrong with the bike, assuming its a completly new bike from dealer (dealerships do sell used bikes too) id ask for a different bike cuz the miles on it
 
The dealership mechanic has to road-test the bike, hence the 14 KM's.

"Service Plan" is extended warranty or "required service" to honor extended warranty.

OP, you go into the dealer with issues like this, and you have them explain every check-box to you. You can even have the sales manager initial each line if you have the slightest doubt that they're being less than honest with you.

Do this BEFORE any money changes hands, as after your money is in their bank account, you become very unimportant.

313km? you got a demo...(but i guess demos are anything over 1000km?)

id be rather irritated if that happened to me...
 
1. This should be the delivery date. If you haven't established a delivery date do so and have the dealer make the correction

2. There isn't a safety on a new vehicle so don't worry.

3. This isn't something I would find unusual or worry about. The mileage should be on there though but dealers usually just throw a number like 20km on there. If 14km on the bike really bugs you don't sign the contract but really it is only 14km not a big deal imo.

4. I would have this portion filled out. I would say 5km greater then what is on the bike now incase they need to take it to get gas etc.

5. This info should be on there. My guess is the dealer wants to sign a contract before you change your mind.

6. The service plan would be something you buy from the dealer at an additional cost so unless you have done so then that is correct.

Nothing you have asked about would make me worry about entering a contract with the dealer. I would however speak to them in regards to any issue's you have just so you have a clear mind about the whole thing, if the dealer isn't willing to address your concerns then they aren't doing their job.

Well I feel like a tard going into this thread then. :P

Ah well it's done and over with, learn new things and such, ya know. Plus I don't wanna completely hijack the thread.
