What about when your child is 20, would you be willing to take her for a ride then?
 
In the 80's when I was like 5 or 6. I used to ride around on my uncle's bike. On the tank in front of him. Never had any issue. lol Times have changed!!

I once knew a father like you that never took out his 3 kids for fear of an accident happening to them while playing outside, then an earthquake came and the roof collapsed and killed 2 of them. The 3rd kid died 4 years later electrocuted by a Christmas tree.

It's gullible and dumb thinking you are making your kid safer and last longer by denying him/her freedom and risks.

+1 it's the way kids learn, and what better person for them to learn from than her dad? Would you rather her get to know bikes early, and the responsibility that comes with it taught by you, or for her to be 16 and jumping on the back of some young guys R6 as her first ride experience.

I had my first ride when I was about 3 (just around the block sitting on the tank) but I've always been around bikes, and even tho my mom hated me riding I got the chances when I was young, and now see and avoid dangerous situations before they happen (such as getting on the back of a machine with an operator I know I can't trust).
 
My dad took me eveywhere on the back of his bike, from as early as I can remember (4 or 5 maybe).
All I had for protection was an open face helmet, and whatever clothes I happened to be wearing at the time.

My mom bought me a dirtbike when I was 8.

Apparantly my parents were heinous human beings with no moral fibre, and should have been hung as child abusers. (I'm sure glad I read this thread, otherwise I would have never known!)

*And I am carrying forth the evil with my spawn BWAHAHAHAAHAAAAA!!!
