I didn't want to hijack the other thread due to the spirited back and forth going on there.

However I do have a question -

How many here have switched their position to the other side of the fence regarding ATGATT, solely based on the arguments posted in favour/against the same?

*EDIT* - In the first poll option read "thread" as "forum". Can't find a way to update the poll itself. So I'm putting this out there before I have ppl pointing it out to me.

I started riding with the mind state of ATGATT, but every once in a while I like to squid it out.
My commute to work is 15 Km's one way, however on longer rides, I prefer to be geared up head to toe. No matter the weather.
Yesterday I rode to work in shorts, t-shirt, runners only had my FF lid and gloves on.
Went for a ride with 3 friends around 5-ish and felt it would be necessary to have my gear on.
No mesh, no textile, only leather perforated jacket, full length leather gloves, full length boots and jeans on... and boy was it ever hot. However on longer rides it's always necessary.

My question was more on how many people have switched their position based on arguments and counter arguments on this forum?

I swayed my opinions in favour of the freedom of choice (but not my practices, which are still ATGATT) based on the arguments on this forum. We take a huge risk just by riding, so why should we be getting all high and mighty about telling other people how to live their lives. Wear what you're comfortable with, whether it's your birthday suit or 1pc race leathers, stop being a pussy and let others ride wearing what they're comfortable in. Pretty simple - Live and let live.

I don't believe anyone other than possibly a new rider with no mentor will pay any attention to what someone advises them that's contrary to their current practice. They'll do what they do and rationalize their decisions.

I started ATGATT 34 years ago and have only worn more protection over time as better gear becomes available.

Define your version of ATGATT.
Is someone with a t-shirt and a back protector atgatt, someone with jean jacket, jeans and a skid lid, or do you need to be in full leathers, boots, gloves, full face helmet, back protector?

I've upgraded my gear from the minimum required for the course, as I went along.

Full gear for the past few years. I.e., full leathers, boots, gauntlet gloves, FF helmet. This summer I switched to textile gear, but still armoured up. I rode once in jeans instead of armoured pants this summer and I not only felt more vulnerable, but the heat off the engine was much, much worse.

I get pretty annoyed with people who give me a hard time about being ATGATT. I don't know why people have to be like that. Stupid comments like, "are you treating the street like a race track? Why full gear then?" or, "you're that afraid of riding that you think you're going to crash?" No, I don't think I'm going to crash. I'm a cautious rider. But the possibility of crashing is always there. No, I don't treat the street like a race track. Do I have to ride hard to justify being protected? A down at 5 kph will still take off flesh, so it's not about speed at all.

That said, riders get crapped on for choosing to don t-shirts and shorts. Those of us who choose to gear up also get crapped on. Ya just can't win! *shrug*

I could care less what people say, I wear my gear as I see fit, if i'm riding around town on a day like today i probably wearing shorts and a t-shirt. however if I go for a ride where i'm going to be pushing the boundaries a little, them i'm wearing gear.

I guess. But most topics on here seem to start a war, with the end result being useless anyway; at least between ppl that post here. For the newbs it'll be even more confusing; Do I wear gear or not?

From the poll results it seems that only 1 person actually switched sides. For the rest it didn't really matter. lol, I guess we all use GTAM for ranting or just pure good ol' fashion entertainment.

THE POINT IS PEOPLE DIE....... I would like to have back my friends that are injured or dead from not wearing gear
