This is from another forum from a guy in Southern Ontario:
So the myth that a child has to be 12 and over to ride as a passenger in a motorcycle is horse manure, don't believe it.
So I was on my motorcycle today and was giving my 9 year old daughter a ride to her friends house.
When we get to the house, a police office pulls up at the end of the driveway and motions for me to come over to him
He asks me "How Old is your daughter", so I told him her age. He then tells me that "He does not think it is legal for her to be on the motorcycle at that age".. I replied to him, that there were no age restrictions. He ends up getting out his copy of the HTA and starts looking.. While he is looking I use my "Phone a Friend " and call my riding buddy who is a Toronto Cop.. he verifies with me that there is no age restrictions.. The only restrictions are 1. Must have foot pegs for passenger and the passenger must be able to reach them. 2. Proper helmet
I go back to the cop, and he says, "turns out there are no age restrictions" ..
Kinda funny to be pulled over for something legal.. And I dont begrudge him, he was thinking of the safety of my child
