I know it's better and snapped now then tomorrow when we he'd out. I guess I'm going to Walmart backpack shopping.

But I'f anyone in the halton area has a givi rack for a 5th gen VFR, that I could buy or borrow! That would suck way less then going on a two day trip with a backpack.

No chance of buying a tank bag at this time of day either.

:(
If anyone can help 289-888-2531

Text me

Can't be of any help to you, but your phone# is incomplete as typed, so nobody's going to be able to text you until you fix that. BTW, how'd it snap? I'm thinking of getting Givi luggage for my Ninja 650, but the idea of the rack snapping is a bit scary.

The same happened to my sv-650 givi rack.I bought sw-motech rack from twistedthrottle.com for givi box-much better choice.Managed to destroy one by overloading. They sent to me the replacement part. Now everything is OK.The GIVI rack made of very thing tubes-they brake easily at welding points.Just buy sw-motech replacement.

I know, I was actually going to buy a motech, but changed my mind. Now I know my suspicions were correct that my givi was not long for this world.

+1 for sw motech rack, their system is superior. can't you have the givi rack welded.

Only thing that is still open is Walmart, They should have dry bags in camping session.
One larger would sit nicely on pillion seat if you do not have passenger. Those things are waterproof and pretty sturdy if you get better one. Backpacks are not waterproof...

I hope you sort it out...

Nor Before 5 am tomorrow!

can you ride over adam - can fix you up with double layer bag for buddy seat and maybe more
Holds about the same as te givi - have the straps etc - worked well on the James bay run

Have some back packs too.

its absurd how these racks can snap. how hard is it to weld something properly? this isn't the first time i heard of this either.

Givi charge enough for their stuff...see if they will replace it. I recently got a refund from a company when I told them I was documenting my experience with them on an internet site

can u tell us where it snapped ?

combined total i have about 350,000km on various bikes with Givi racks that I've owned. I've not had one snap on me completely ... having said that the metal on one started to crack, but since it is just steel with paint you can have that welded by anyone that has a welder

if it is the same rack that he got with the bike from me 2 years ago, it was the first generation GIVI mount for a VFR. Don't think GIVI even sells it anymore. The load limit on that rack was something like 10kg I think.

New rack uses oval or rectangular tubing instead of round tubing.
