who has air horn installed?

I have stiebel nautilus and it is best money I ever spent. It is mounted vertically and I know it can be horizontal as well with no problems. It was best money I ever spent and it is so loud that people jump in air when they hear it. It puts people in their lane and I love to use it when necessary. As someone said, there is no way to say hello politely with this thing. :)

Not true. I have mine in the open and rode in storms and it's still fine. I have one on my truck in front of the rad (in the open) and it's working fine.

You can separate the compressor from the horn and that will make it a lot easier to install

then you don't have it installed correctly or it's defective. This horn sounds like a MACK truck. You did install it through a relay right?

Just a word of warning...some stebel's now come epoxied to the compressor. I found this out the hard way when separating my horn and compressor. I have a Z750S and I must have walked around that bike 20 times trying to work out where to put the horn. Think I might be able to put the compressor inside the small bikini fairing somehow.
 
If I had to take the horn apart I probably would not bother.
Mine's set up out of the elements for the most part but reasonably accessible.

The original horn wires now run to a relay, which triggers the horn.
The original horn is still in it's location in case I need to switch back.

I might rig up a second switch so that I can politely toot toot someone.
I tried to get the attention of someone I knew and she jumped about 3 feet (1 m) off of the ground.
 
i love my stebel... it definately does its purpose on the bike
never used it in the rain, but if installed properly, i can't see why it wouldn't work

With the compressor separated apparently there's a small enough delay such that the original horn will toot without the stebel going off if you do a quick press of the horn switch. This is what I'm aiming to get set up. Long press = both going off.

Why not run both horns at the same time. Run an additional line from the + of the OEM horn to act as the trigger to the relay. Using both horns will increase the dissonance between the sounds, making the horns more noticeable. Your original horn is still on your bike, so might as well make good use of it.
 
I have a Stebel Nautilis compact installed on my naked bike (Bandit). One thing about the Stebel is that you have to custom mount your Stebel onto your frame as not all bikes have the same type of mounting, and it usually won't fit the stock horn mount anyways.

Once you can overcome that, the horn is great, especially on a naked bike where you get the full effect of the horn. Usually when you buy the kit you have to buy your own wiring and fuses as well, but it does come with the relay. Should be a must do mod for all bikes.

I looked at that thanks. I don't know if I could fabricate a bracket though so that's when I separated the horn and compressor....and then I found it was epoxied together...and.....well, you get where I'm going. Still stuck!
 
I have an airhorn, but I usually leave her at home when I go for a ride, more peaceful that way.
 
I have a Stebel installed on my 05 sv650s left side under the fairing and its plenty loud enough makes both people and cars take notice not a problem to install and wouldn't ride a bike without one.
 
Had a fiamm freeway blaster on my old bike.. wish I kept it. Sounded like a car. Somebody needs to make a firetruck one fit

Yes 5 horns per bike,, the two air horns are on each side of the engine guards, the highway blasters are on the left side of the engine mount and the stock horn in the front. Really simple to do. Word of advice though, do not try to honk your horn if the bike is not running as it will drain your battery very fast!

Other than that, those horns saved my life countless times.
