Hello,I've been riding for about 5 years now. In that time I've owned 2 bikes , a 2003 cbr 600rr and a 2008 cbr 600 rr. Recently I've been looking at the ducati monster 696. I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with them. Any characteristics that would differ from the cbr comfort etc. and anything else I should be considering. Thank youAll input is appreciated

i say go test ride the bike, check out gpbikes, they are the only ducati dealer in Ontario that had a demo of the 848 evo, Im sure that monster demo is also available.

PS: Was surprised to see the diavel being demoed there as well.

While the 696 will offer you some lower end grunt which you won't be used to, it'll also run out of steam pitifully fast and you'll be let down by the overall performance of the bike once the novelty of the v-twin wears off, I can almost guarantee it. We're talking about a 40 horsepower downgrade for you here.

You should be looking at the 1100, to be quite honest.

Triumph Street Triple.

I only mention this because the best place to test ride a Monster would also be the best place to test ride this bike (it's GP Bikes btw....). :D

Yeah good advice, the Street Triple would be a way better choice for you and an upgrade from a 600RR as opposed to a heavy downgrade with the Monster 696.

a bit off topic, but is there any ducati demo day coming up? i know there was one 2 weeks ago....missed it.

Thanks guys, I didn't know there was a place I could demo. With both of my other bikes I lived in markham. I now live downtown and was looking at the monster as something that would be more comfortable in traffic. Thanks for all the input , I think I'm going to widen my search now.

If you like the hyper performance of a screaming inline-4, the Monster will not equal that. It also gets hotter in traffic during warm weather since it's not liquid-cooled. Stock mufflers sound pitiful. But seating position is more upright making it a good commuter.
