Minimum one year ban and unlimited fine? Yikes!
If I ever move there, I'll be sure to get myself a 250 so that it would be difficult (not impossible) to get myself in that much trouble haha.

Police over there DO NOT have the same mentality as they do here. That is the major difference.

Wow... can I meet you? I have this desire to try and cure stupid! You are making a non nonsensical arguement. How can you compare speeding to a criminal offence?

I'm sorry..I thought we were all contributing with absurd arguments...I just thought I'd join in. This game is fun, why are you annoyed...stop whining.

How so..?

They tend to take a hard line when it comes to road-crimes.

IE.. if caught with no insurance.. it's not just a $5k fine as it is over here. They seize the vehicle and crush it, along with whatever fine and driving ban is imposed. They've got the electronic licence plate reading system to pick off offenders left and right, to boot.

The speed radar cameras are also as thick as flies.

Care to back that up? I'll give you a hint, every time you try I'll present you with something to counter your argument having lived there for quite a while.

Knowledge is power...ignorance is bliss.

I bless your bliss. Amen.

How can you compare speeding to a criminal offence?

Because killing someone is a crime and it can be deemed your fault if you were driving in such a way that doesn't take the rest of the public's health and safety into consideration.

Look up criminal negligence. It can be tacked on to your traffic charges if you happened to kill someone "accidentally" while excessively speeding.

Hmm.. i'm thinking that this poor chap would beg to differ... he had a few more mitigating road-crime factors involved, but similar speeding situation.

Two year ban for 110mph biker

"You rode like an idiot" says Judge

A MOTORCYCLIST
caught speeding at 110mph, pulling wheelies and riding at double the speed limit in a 30mph zone has been banned from driving for two years.

Stuart Middleton, 32, of Saltdean, East Sussex, was caught by a police officer on an unmarked motorbike. He was given a four month suspended jail sentence at Brighton Crown Court.

Judge Paul Tain told him: "You rode like an idiot. I use these roads, members of the jury use these roads and I take a very dim view of anybody who risks the lives of others by riding so dangerously."

Inspector Marc Clothier from Sussex Police's Road Policing Unit Operations team said: "Motorcyclists represent a small proportion of overall road users, but account for a very high proportion of fatal and serious injury road traffic crashes.

"We fully accept that the vast majority of motorcyclists are law abiding and careful riders and we continue to work with the biking community to promote safe riding, but where any motorist deliberately and intentionally puts themselves and other road users at danger they can expect to be dealt with robustly."

And if you have a knife in the glove box, you could stop and stab someone...

Try again.

no one was killed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no one was killed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know. Calm down.
You were simply asking how speeding could be compared to a criminal offence, and I answered.

Geez. I rode with you before on a group ride and you seemed like an ok guy, but if your posts here are your true colors, I misjudged.

Y'all are bringing up some dumb *** ****! first off you are now talking about doing wheelies (me, I don't see an issue as long as you are doing in with respect, meaning on a desolate road). You are bringing robbery into the argument, and other felonies... Im done... the stupidity hit a cap for me.

Not the way i see it. You made some erroneous assertons, and the sources that i've quoted back at ya prove you quite wrong. Your general responses in this thread? Insults, eThuggary, and now, taking your ball and going home. Who got trolled now, son?

Bye!

A little bit of "Me, Myself and I" here?

Under UK knife-crime laws, that's actually a pretty serious charge to have a knife in the glove-box...

Yes, I remember reading about that. Although the point remains: an act that hasn't happened (although could have) is not a crime. If someone speeds, but doesn't kill anyone, then it's "dangerous" at worst. Speeding in itself does not automatically imply endangerment of life, (although it could be done in a dangerous way). Throwing this "special case" of speeding into a general discussion is a poor attempt at verbal manipulation and "appeal to emotion".

I may be gone from this thread but I aint far... see ya in the next one!

I know in some US states the speeds are more reasonable compare to Ontario. But in any case, regardless of speed on our roads or other issues, I find that Ontario is backwards in many ways. It's no surprising that people on other parts of the word are way ahead of us.
