Rock in my Exhaust....

Hey all,

I came home today with a note on my motorcycle. The note said "Please come to Apt. *** I have something to tell you about your bike." I went to my neighbours door and he told me that a kid put a rock in my exhaust.

So I did some checking with a flash light and notice there is a rock at the bottom of my exhaust. I've tried to get it out with a coat hanger (did not work lol) and my next idea was to start the bike and see if the exhausts just throws it out (the rock does not seemed lodged but loose).

Of course I wanted to consult GTA forum before I did this.

If anyone has any suggestions or comments they are extremely Appreciated!

I doubt that running the engine would work. Can you take the pipe off?

take the pipe off and shake it out..if you cant take it off you most likely may have to unbolt the header and take the full system off to shake it out. Anyone have better ideas? lol what a little ****! when i was a kid I loved bikes and would just stare at it.
 
Id take it off and shake it out. Its going to be the easiest way. If the rocks small enough, maybe you might have luck with a stick and some really sticky tape or gum on the end, but most likely youre just gonna end up with half a broken stick in your exhaust along with the rock.
 
Thanks for the responses all! I thought about the vacuum for a moment but the stick and gum idea could work ... I think I'll do the proper thing and take the exhaust off... I'm sure I'll learn something in the process.

What kind of bike is it? and what exhaust is on it?
 
I had a kid do the same thing to me in Oshawa a few years.I managed to pull it out with a piece of wire.I don't know what would posses a kid to do something like that.

I don't know ... I just don't see how anyone could get amusement from putting a rock in someones exhaust pipe Lol "Kids being Kids" ?
 
lol..my kids likes to drop my sockets down my exhaust pipe. Thank goodness for extendable magnets :)

Haha you got that right!

So I'm sitting here in my apartment with a muffler on my lap. I keep shaking the hell out of it to see if the rock will come out but I've had no success. I can hear it but can't see it and I have no idea how what these things look like in the inside to know where it might be trapped.

I'm off to the hardware store to see if I can buy a snake or something lol I'll let you know how it turns out.
 
Well I found some wire that I've tried snaking through the muffler but it doesn't seem to be working. what if I took the water compressor to it? Would this damage the muffler? It might be a bad idea lol but at this point I'm starting to run out of ideas.

If this all fails I'm gonna buy a Yosh pipe :P
 
Well finally got the rock out! Had to hold it on an angle and shake the crap out of it!

On the plus side I don't feel scared to work on my bike any more!
