What if my parking ticket "accidently" flew away in the wind?

It doesn't matter where you got the ticket vs where you live - the ticket will go against the plate. Your plate renewals are handled by MTO, that is Ministry of Transportation ONTARIO, not MTM(ississauga) or MTW(indsor). An unpaid parking ticket will usually get back to you, and if it happens to be at plate renewal time, you'll pay then before they will give you a new sticker.

Also, this is fairly recent, but if you own property in the place you received a traffic ticket, not only can your license be suspended for an unpaid traffic ticket, but the municipality now has the legal power to add the cost of the ticket plus administrative fees to your property taxes. If you ignore the bill for long enough, you could potentially see the municipality put your property up for tax auction. I think the bank would step and pay it on your behalf long before that happens, but then you could be looking at foreclosure instead for a speeding ticket!

We're talking about a parking ticket here, not a speeding ticket!

I was reading ticketcombat.com, and they did say that the ticket is invalid if the paperwork isn't filed within 75 days. I'm thinking, if they send me a reminder by mail, and because I don't live there anymore, can't my family send it back to them, or call them to tell them that the owner of the vehicle doesn't live there anymore? So they'll have to send it to my new address, which kills more time.

Yes, I realize that. I guess the point is that the age of computers and wide area networks has changed things. The world has become much smaller than it used to be, and what you do in one place can easily follow you across the country if need be. Computers don't easily forget, and unless you live in a cave with no connections to the outside world, you are just a few keystrokes away from being found and brought to bear if they want to.

And that applies to parking tickets.

Oh yeah, where did you get that from?

I doubt the city would to that extent to collect a parking fine. My ticket says "parking on private property without consent" so that means the mall issued it or they called someone on me. I used to park near the entrance at the Superstore, where I used to work, and never had any trouble. No one ever said anything, or gave me trouble. I parked on a median in the parking lot at the mall, so my bike could be visible. I wasn't anywhere near the mall, or was I blocking pedestrian walk-way, or blocking cars. I've seen bikes parked on the median in the parking lot at Yorkdale, and some were even parked right next to the mall! Of course, different municipality - different ******** issuing tickets.

I miss the days when the city was on strike and parking anywhere was free.

Wouldn't it just be easier to pay the ticket? I mean, rather than go through the rest of this hassle and possibly not be able to renew your plate?
