Best commuting ss?

If you are commuting from Ajax to Mississauga every day why are you taking the 401?

Traffic is not stop and go on the 407.
Shhhssss not everyone can wheelie their way out of paying toll fees

In reality any bike can be comfortable. If you look for somthing with a side mount that solves the heat. Rearsets will help with your leg room, bar risers and a seat. I'll be changing the seat on my zx10 when I'm not spending so much on my track bike and hopefully some adjustable risers.

I bought a 02 VFR 800 because of all the good things I was reading about it.I didnt test drive the bike ,bought it with cash to get a better price and as soon as I drove it I knew I made a mistake.I sold it right away and bought a 02 Blackbird for the same price.
My friend had a Blackbird and told me to look into buying one.I love the bike, its very stable on the highway, not too heavy(just a bit more than a VFR)and twice as fast.I was suprised how easy the bike is to ride fast or slow.I know its not a Busa but its not far behind.
I am only 5 ft 6 and I can ride this thing all day not like my 02 ZX6

Good luck on buying your new ride
Bob

What was up with the VFR? Don't want to threadjack but I'm looking for one of these eventually. I want a newer one with ABS though.

gotta think the zx-14 is about as comfy as you can get. Busa would do the job as well as a blackbird.

Like you said it's an oxymoron. Try one of these maybe:

Whats the deal with the 04/05 zx-10? Is that really a torture rack like people say? Love that bike but never rode on.

Not really, the seat gets hard but that's why I want to change it. The rearsets make a big difference (I'm 6') but it's mostly the seat that kills me after a few hours. It'll be fine for a 1hr commute. I sometimes get a really sore left wrist from the reach to the clutch combined with the bar angle. Adjustable levers would probably help but I just stop using the clutch where it's possible.

They run just as hot as a 954, either bike is remarkable, in this day and age......

Thats what im leaning towards, more so the 954 cuz i went and looked at one and didnt think i would like them, but was surprised at how much i did. heard they heat up alot though!

My new CBR600rr is more comfortable than the cbr929 I had. It also has a much better suspension and handles better. I spent alot of money on the 929 suspension and the 600rr is still better. The 929 wasn't all that fast either, since the gsxr750 was it's equal.

I rode my cbr600rr to Sudbury on the weekend, wasn't bad once I found my comfy spot.

What about the trunk room ;)

The 750 may make around the same peak hp but the 929 has a much more usable power band. Suspension is not great but good enough for the street and adequate for the track. Lets not forget it's a 10 year old bike.

for the op - the gsxr1000 was superior in every way and didn't have dual rate springs like the 929.
I did not find the suspension adequate and replaced everything.

The only thing with me and the gixxer is that i find it not so attractive. The zx-10 is sexy and really one of the best litre bikes made. The vfr is nice, although not my thing in the looks dept.
I would buy the zx instantly if i knew it wasnt gonna kill me on the commute.

Ninja 1000?

I really don't care what a bike looks like, and have decided that fairings do nothing except make service difficult and lead to higher insurance rates.....I may have outgrown the supersport phase.

Any sportbike with a tubular handlebar will be light yrs ahead of a bike with clip-ons. I made the GSXR1000- KTM Supermoto switch, and am amazed at how easy the bike is to ride. Turning is so light it makes the Gixxer feel like a tank, even though the KTM is heavier than the Gixxer.....It's gotta be the extra leverage and control provided by an upright riding position and a tubular wide handlebar....and who doesn't love to hop up and over an island or a curb every now and then? LOL
I wanted sportbike control, suspension, wheels, brakes and tire selection, but a more upright riding position. And I was looking for something around 100hp, and as much torque as I could get, so twins were obviously included. I found what I was looking for.

I chose the ZX9 over the 929 as my commuter SS. When I drove the 929 it felt more like a track bike. ZX9 seemed to have better wind protection too. I commute approx. 160kms a day.
BTW, I hit 3 construction sites going home last night including one long stop and go stint on the 400 north bound. It was stinking hot, bike got up to 106C, never overheated and I could only feel the heat build up on my right ankle/calf.
I've put on about 2000k this year so far and have no complaints.
