Do you guys know if I can send a friend to get a plate and sticker for me if I give him copies of the following paperwork:

1) Safety (original)
2) copy of drivers license (both sides)
3) copy of insurance slip
4) copy of ownership

Reason being that for scheduling reasons I can't make it myself.
Thanks

They won't give someone a plate and sticker unless their name is on the ownership. Might have to go at lunch....

This is incorrect.

With the info you are going to provide, your friend can easily get a plate and sticker for you.

Car dealerships, new and used do this all the time

Must just be my luck then. I sent my brother and they wouldnt give him the plate for 'fear of fraudulent use', etc. I can understand why dealerships are able to do so but thought it was different for individuals.

My bad then!

You need to have a letter explaining what he has permission to do with the following on it:

Name
Address
License number
Signature

One set of the above info for you, one for whoever you send. The MTO told me this is whats needed, and I have used it in the past for stickers etc, so plates should be no different.

I wonder though. I don't think stickers are a big deal at all, seeing as you can just go to a kiosk and get one. Whereas plates you HAVE to get from the office in person. I have NO idea either way, just speculating.

Yep. I had to do this once when i had to renew some plates for my mom while i was at the MTO office anyway. Just needed a letter saying i was authorized to buy stickers for her plates.
