ZZR 600 Problem

I have a 2006 Kawasaki ZZR 600 with about 41000 kms on it.

Yesterday I was riding for about 20 minutes, bike got up to around 100 degrees Fahrenheit then I shut it off, I left bike on to let the fan run for a bit. 5 minutes later I go to start the bike and it seems my battery is just about dead so it wont start. It is turning over but very slowly and it also reset my Trip meter and clock on my bike. Hooked a battery charger up and the bike started fine.

Today the bike starts up just fine after it was parked all night. I do the same thing, go for a ride, let the bike warm up (this time only to about 83 degrees Fahrenheit) come back home and turn the bike off. Let it sit for a minute and the same thing as yesterday happens. It turns over slowly but will not start.

Do I need a new battery or what could it be?

Keep in mind the bike started both times just fine while the engine wasn't warmed up.

I am going to let the bike cool back down again and see if it will then start.

Any help is appreciated!

How old is your battery? If it's several years old then it's likely due for replacement. If you have a volt meter you can check the voltage with the ignition off and it should show around 12V. When you're starting the bike it might drop to around 10V, if it's too much lower than that then it's having a hard time under load and you'll need a new battery. If it starts, then check the voltage again, it should go to around 13.5V which indicates your charging system is working properly... if not, then it indicates a problem with your charging system.

OK....

There could be a multitude of things....from weak battery, bad ground to starter going bad.

So its not a yes/no for a battery. But you can always get your battery load tested.....
