Your bike uses a steel castle lock nut. The 05-2011 uses an aluminum one, so a home made tool doesnt work as well on the newer bikes.....All depends on how picky you are, but alot of people are not happy when the nice anodized lock nut gets chewed up by a home made tool....
The Kawi tool is expensive but it fits perfect and therefore doesnt slip or have play and chew them up.....
Intresting....didn't know they went aluminium for the new gen's.
Yeah, I wouldn't be happy either, I nicked the castle nut on my 03/04 636 and rear motor mount on the 04/05 zx10 ...and you'd never notice it, but little things bug me....
Yup if the nicks dont bother you, you can even just use a hammer and a drift to knock them loose and tighten them...
...which would just sooooo wrong........"butchers" lol
Agreed ..... and if worried about marks make slightly larger and put a cloth between the contacting pieces.$5 socket + $1 dremel carbon fiber bits
Hey some people work on bikes with hammers, some dont...To each their own, I try to use a hammer as least as possible...lol
