Your Opinions on the 2010/2011 Kawasaki Concours

I am in the market for a bike, touring style with some sport to it.

Anyone have any interaction with the Concours, suggestions or any opinions?

Gonna be using it to go on 2 week long tours through US and Canada at a time.
Currently have a VTX1300 and its not as comfortable, and agile.

I got a buddy in the US that picked up an 09 cheaply last March or May, he's on his 6th or 7th set of tires already so I would say he really likes it. He's a big guy, 6ft 250 or so, but I was impressed how he managed that beast in the corners riding up the Blue ridge parkway.

The only complaints I've heard was it were the stock tires sucked(front BT021 cupped under 3500 miles) and it would vent the engine heat on on your shins, there's some air fins things you can get to help reduce that though. Cruising down the highway from Michigan last summer his gas light would come on sooner than my VFR800's.

I had an extended test ride last season.. little slut makes you want to ride to the end of the world. Very responsive for a larger bike. Power + handling capabilities + comfort = felt like king.

I find the bike very comfortable, has gobs of power, it handles well and feels lighter than it is, but you don't want to be pushing it around! Sidecases hold a lot of luggage.

Although I can't comment on the newer ones, I never had any issue with engine heat. It goes about 300-315km on a tank, reserve about another 40, but I've never pushed that.

Though you specifically asked about the new 2010/2011, I see you've received comments about the previous model.
These sound like a changelist of what was fixed in 2010.
The Concours no longer cooks you; the mirrors are higher and now shield your hands; and the bike now has a special high-mileage fuel map the pilot can request.
Great bikes - but physically bloody enormous.
Pay a little more and get the Yamaha 1300.
It's smaller/tidier/prettier, very capable, and looks better than the Concours does when the bags are removed...

Pay more for an inferior bike. I like Yamaha but the FJ is years old with a 5 speed tranny even.
You can send me a comparo test from any cycle mag that rated the FJ higher.

And looks are in the eye of the beholder.

I almost bought one but chickened out because the U.S. version was $6,000 less than the Canadian version and I would be tempted to abuse that kind of power.
