Not surprised. The twinning with Arctic Cat looked like it was headed this way. Snowmobile territory shrinks every year. Even near me, most of the sleds are going onto trailers every weekend and headed north. For a bunch of the winter, even driving hours north didn't get you to good snow. It's a ton of money invested in something for what amounts to a few days a year for many people. Every year, people have fewer sleds around me. Those that had more than one are dropping to one and many of those that had one are out.

I don't think they will be terribly missed. Polaris has 33% of the market, and BRP 47%, Arctic Cat 16% and Yammie 4%. I can see why they want out.

Would be interesting to see what a market share report looked like in 1972 , when there were 40? Manufacturers in North America.
Between 1969 and 1975 we had SnoPony , Rupp, SnowCruiser, MotoSki. BoaSki , and SnowPrince on the farm . Also Masey Furgusen and John Deere sleds on the sister farm in London. By 1976 dad declared only SkiDoo products on the farms , he was a great mechanic but didn’t need a second job and at that time Rotax was in every SkiDoo and just worked . I missed the shed of weird product , and we could ride from Grey cup till Easter in Campbellville. Every year has gotten shorter .

They were selling motors to AC and getting chassis in return. The only real differences for the last several years have been cosmetics. I expect they'll continue providing engines. The last one that was exclusively their own was likely the VK540.
