Hehe, got passed by an "old man buick"

It was a passing zone.

Totally her fault for being in the wrong tire track.

As a related note: coming south on the 410 heading towards the 403, I had some douch in his riced out civic. I was in the left lane, right tire track (as I should be. Since TECHNICALLY no one should be merging from the HOV lane over the double white, and with more people on my right, and someone behind me, it gives the most visibility to opposing traffic.) He was coming up behind me and moved to the left, went halfway over the double white, half in my lane to pass me. And then proceeded to weave through traffic , only to get stopped at standstill traffic 2km down the road.

Really, the amount of effort people put in to shave 2 minutes off of their commute surprises me. Some of the **** people will pull in stop and go traffic just to get 1 vehicle ahead.
I guess if they're willing to spend the extra $5 to get to work 2 minutes faster, more power to them.

The word 'fault' gets abused quite frequently. Sure, she should have been in the left tire track, but that doesn't make the driving infraction of someone else her fault ;)

Unfortunately this is par for the course on the 410 top to bottom...you could have an empty highway behind you and yet they will merge in front of you...you get used to it..

Thus the term "blocking position".....

maybe instead of blabbing away, you should be riding at appropriate speed?

I have no sympathy for left lane bandits and ppl riding 20 under the speed limit in perfect weather conditions and then coming here and whining about it.

I've had idiots do the same thing to me, when there's maybe a car and a half worth of space between me and the vehicle in front of me. To people like that Civic driver, it really doesn't matter what speed you're doing.

I generally end up passing these people back, at some point, and leaving them behind because they have no concept of traffic flow.

I was going the speed everyone else was going in the left lane. The guy just wanted to do about 15km over everybody else, and weave through them. Learn to read before replying.

Same as going 120km/h (or more) vs. 100km/h on the highway.
Somewhat. If traffic is going 120km/hr+, then you're keeping up with the flow of traffic. But if you have to weave through traffic, changing lanes every 2 seconds (within 3ft of evey vehicle), that becomes a bit excessive. And dangerous.

@Rob, alright maybe "fault" was the wrong word to use, but it wasn't helping her case.

@Neal, I'm already used to drivers in Brampton, sadly.

This is a prime example of the "me first" attitude in North America when it comes to driving. The left lane is not for cruising along with traffic it's for passing. Yes we are all guilty of doing this but if people used the middle lane for cruising like our road ways were designed it would make traffic a million times better.

Just a friendly reminder below:
Left lane = Passing
Middle lane = Cruising
Right lane = Merging/Exiting

The left lane is a constant stream of passing the middle lane.
And just one or 2 people doing it the right way, isn't going to change a whole lot. When it rome...
And until Ontario enforces a law (quebec does. If you stay in the left lane too long, or aren't passing anyone: it's a ticket.) people are going to continue to do it.

I'm all up for proper road etique. As it appears right now; right lane = 90-100km/hr, middle = 100-110km/hr, left = 110-120km/h.

Point Proven: everyone else is doing it so so can I.

I think a lot of people have the mentality "If I take the left lane, I'll go faster" cause some people call it the "fast lane" instead of the passing lane.

Ever notice that a lot of the time on highways or even side streets the right lane is empty...? Even though I ride a CBR125, I find myself passing a lot of people on the right lane going 120 on the 400/404.

I pass the the morons... Usually in the right lane too!
