i got back from a week trip down to North Carolina.

on the way back, I did a portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virgina.

wow.

just wow. I still have a grin.

amazing. no traffic, no cops, puckering turns with no guard rails, great pavement.

planning on going back when it's cooler.

Yes, the BRP is absolutely amazing. Probably my favourite road on the East Coast. It's so close too, Front Royal, VA is only eight hours away. Hop on Skyline Dr and continue on the BRP from there.

Personally, the stretch from Skyline Dr to Roanoke is my favourite.

Be careful with the weather though, you're reasonably high up so the temps are generally cooler than at lower altitude, also rain and fog can come in quick.

It's certainly a favourite of mine as well. I think I've been on it five times or more.

He's right about the fog, we rode in stuff so thick that at 40 kph we were almost right on top of a hiker before we saw her. Leaving the crest for a valley Road saw us in sunshine and a light drizzle.

Amazing how you can ride so long yet cover so little ground. :-D

Definitly on my to do list. Done it once coming back from NC but it was at night in my Jeep. :-(
