Worthless Joe Rocket gloves

Picked up a new pair of light summer gloves about three months ago. Joe Rocket rain gloves, since I like to have some padding even on my summer gloves. Thought they felt pretty good.

Well, hey I've been using these for a bit, and they're getting grimy - time for a wash.

Tags said wash is okay. Knowing they have a rain liner, I still played it safe: Lukewarm, gentle cycle, air dry instead of using the dryer. All the right blah blah ********.

What happened? Completely ruined. The dry-tech inner shell is all balled up in between the inner liner. Might as well be full of rubber cement.

Don't waste your money on these pieces a ****.

EDIT: Took 'em apart to see if they could be saved that way. Turns out they were held together inside by scotch tape. SCOTCH TAPE. Jesus, see if I ever buy anything from JR again.

Just warning people off of buying junk like I did.

EDIT: Or if anyone has any actually useful suggestions I guess.

Most motorcycle gear does not hold up to machine washing. The more you know!

You're probably talking about the old Ballistic gloves, though ... so you just did yourself a favour. Not gonna lie, I still have a pair in my closet, but they are VERY thin.

Yeah, if there was a tag saying "HEY STUPID, DON'T WASH THESE" then yeah, making a post bitching about this would be retarded. But these claimed it was a-ok. Eh.

I have however had a couple of bike coats that washed up just fine, so long as you took the pads out.

EDIT: Hmmm, no they aren't the ballistics after all. Can't seem to find these anywhere online, so not sure which model they are. They're sort of similar to the Nitrogens. I guess nobody else will be buying these anyway, LOL

I hate joe rocket kit. Many many years ago: they made decent stuff but their current stuff isn't worth my $
I was dumb enough to pick up a pair of JR motorcycle pants and in less than 4 months: the stitching is failing and the "water proof" claim is so overstated that its not funny.

My JR Altero Ego jacket and pants are ok, although had I known at the start what I know now about riding, gear, etc I very likely would have went Alpinestars, Teknic, or Dainese instead.

I have a JR "champion leather" jacket that has been absolutely brilliant for our weather. I can be comfortable in temperatures ranging from 10C to almost 40C in the thing, because I can switch out the liner and adjust the venting on-the-fly by opening and closing the 6-strategically placed vents that they've designed,

The vents are so critical to comfort that it completely puzzles me as to why other manufacturers aren't copying this. NO ONE makes vents like these. Not Dainese, not Alpinestars, not Icon, not Teknic ...

I had a shop steer me away from Joe Rocket because they were receiving a lot of complaints about failing zippers (on jackets) and other problems.

i would have to agree w / kri$han, all of my gear is JR (helmet, gloves, leather jacket) and i have to say im only satisfied w/ my gloves & helmet. but the jacket I am most impressed with how it has held up. No zipper problems yet, vents are clutch for warm weather. Colour started to fade on the gloves but not yet on the jacket. real bang for buck for riders on a budget imho

Yuuup. Brand new JR textile jacket, tried it in the store, took it home, went for a ride, second time zipping it up that day, after stopping for gas, zipper broke.....seriously!?

Called Royal Distributing to exchange and they said "sure, bring it in", Rode for an hour to get there (Guelph) and their story changes to "we cant exchange it, you wore it, we will have to send it out."

Brand spanking new jacket, wore it once, has to be sent out for zipper repair. You think they repaired the zipper? Nooope, they did what RD should have done, exhanged it.

Last JR product i buy or spend my money at Royal Distributing.

Now, the tecnic jackets i have,, bombproof. Metal zippers, thick leather, crashed in one twice with just abrasions on the shoulder. GREAT jackets.

I had a pair of alpinestars spx gloves on when I went. Big thick great gloves yet I have no palm left on my left hand. Joe rocket jacket saved me for sure. I think it comes down to you get heat you pay for usually but there's exceptions to everything. Won't lie. I'll be nervous to use those gloves again

Sent from my commodore 64 on dial up

Did the palm actually burn/rash off the glove down to your skin, or was it the impact and drag through the glove? I mean, was the glove intact or shredded?

It burnt through the palm area and well into my hand. I still have melted glove stuck to what little skin I have left that I can't get off. the wrist guard and all fingers were still intact. I should have taken a picture before I tossed them. In regards to the others with negatives about joe rocket.... my textile jacket looks like a wild animal went to town on the back and back of the arms and I only ended up with three minor scrapes on my arms. The mesh area and back protector don't have a scratch on them. I was shocked to say the least when I got it back.

Bought a pair of JR GPX gloves about 8 years ago. I put about 250k+ on them in the first 5 years and they are still holding up. Dont think id buy any of their new gear with all the horror stories going around the last couple years.
