Working in Oil and Gas Industry as a technologist

I'm at the moment in electromechancial technology program at Sheridan College. I have about a year left and I have been doing a lot of reading pertaining to getting into Oil and Gas industry. I am interested in getting some pointers from fellow gtamer's. I don't mind getting my hands dirty as the best way to understand this business is by starting at the lowest low. I eventually want to move to middle east in few years hence which is why I'm looking to get into oil and gas industry as early as possible.
