Won't Start When Hot

Hi All,

I haved a 2003 CBR600RR that has been problem free until now.
When the engine is cold, the bike will start right away. When the engine is hot and I shut off the bike, it doesn't want to start.

Any ideas on what the issue is?

My car had this problem, turned out to be a problem with the fuel injectors! They were staying open after the engine was turned off, dribbling fuel into the intake. When I went to start it after sitting even 2 mins she wouldn't fire. If I let it sit for a few hours she'd fire right up! If I tried to start it RIGHT after I turned it off, it'd start.

Good luck with your problem. Perhaps post on one of the CBR forums for a more instant response.

I'd peg it on the starter motor

UM, when asking questions like this you have to fill in a lot more detail.
Does the lights come on when the key is turned back on?
Does the starter motor do anything?
Does it crank and crank and will not start?
What is the mileage of the bike?
What modifications have been done to the bike?
How old is the battery?

etc etc.

if the battery is older, say 4-5 years... it's probably done. I had that exact situation on one of my bikes. When the batt heats up with use, the plates expand just enough to short or something like that...when it cools down the plates shrink back and you can start the bike again.

You don't mention if it turns over or not. You also don't mention if its stock ECU or PowerC.

If its not cranking, its probably the starter.

If it cranks when hot but doesn't start its probably the temp sensors in the rad or block. Not sure where it is on these bikes.

When its running when hot, do you notice that the temp guage reading fluctuates quite a bit??
