Winterize exterior plastic and metal parts

Hi GTAMers,

I'm new to the forum and this is my first post\question.

I'm in the process of winterizing my Versus 1000 and I've heard some folks say that they spray on oil over the whole exterior of the bike to prevent corrosion. Something like WD40 or duck oil. Does anyone here have any experience of that? Do you cover painted parts and metal?

Thanks,
Noodle

And only wax the painted body panels right? Any wax recommendations?

You can use your favorite brand, I have no particular brand that I am in favour of...If a bike is kept clean and cleaned just before it's stored and properly maintained over the years it will always look good, an hour or 2 or less to keep a bike clean goes a long way to keeping it looking good for a very long time

here is mine a year after I rebuilt it, and it looks just as good as the day I finished the rebuild, and after sitting last year in the garage over winter.

and it should look just like that after this winters hibernation, come the new season....

And looking very nice too. Took the battery out and covered mine tonight. Full tank and stabilizer already in there and all clean and chain lubed. Just the wax to do then keep tires inflated and rotated through the winter.
