Winter Projects

Anyone doing any winter projects they are proud of? Or lingering projects they have been putting off.

I’ve been trying to get to peeling the chalking and redoing it around my windows.
Then started thinking it might be better to hire a company to do it.
I’ve got no experience in that trade and really don’t want to find one day that the window or windows leaked

We hired that job out , guys did an ‘ok’ job, $650 for the house .

Im going to re open my peppermill making project , I made about 50 a few years ago and have a couple requests , I have a couple lathes and a small milling machine and really like the process of making smaller things that don’t take up the whole shop space .

Not sure why you would want to do this outside work in the winter? This is more of a spring summer job.

We had our windows replaced about 20 years ago, 2 guys did the tearout and replacement work in about 8 hours. Last thing one guy did was the caulking. He mixed up the caulk in a plastic container, some oil based thing, and then poured it into a bag with a molded tip, like he was going to ice a cake, and proceeded to caulk 14 windows in just under 30 minutes. Flawless job, no tape used and 20 years later the caulking is still intact. So, if you get the right guy he'll do a much better job than you and I could do + it will be done in quickly. My contractors were arranged by Home Depot, where I purchased the windows, no idea who they are.

It's going to be a tough winter. There are parts of my home that are sort of a shrine to Sue. I'm not trying to erase her from my memory, but life has to go on. I'm going to do some changes in furniture and flooring to make the place "mine".
Getting thru Christmas won't be easy.
