Windshield wipers

The quality appears to be getting worse and worse, or I'm buying the wrong ones.

They seemed to last forever on my dad's old beaters, but might not make a season now.

Are there any that you're satisfied with currently?

I’m agreeing with @Baggsy recently have barely had wipers last a year. I don’t like the bendable ‘reflex’ types and always try to find something with a rigid frame.

Thanks for the tip @Lightcycle ill give WD40 a whirl next time.

Just put windshield wipers on my 2014 for the first time using Michelin this time.

Sent using a thumb maybe 2

I keep winter wipers on my cars, makes a big difference. The more expensive motomaster type work for 5+ years.

Bosch Icon are the way to go.

I put a new set on my Jeep every fall. I find after about a year (~20,000km) there is noticeable streaking so I replace them. $50 for a set but a small price to pay for being able to see 100%.

I like Bosch Icon too. A few years ago I bought a set of Motomaster beam-type wipers for my father's car - that was a mistake

I can usually make them last 3 seasons or so.

But thats with the help of regular rain-x application after cleaning the windshield properly (at least once a month by hand)

I have a set of icons in the garage to put on my car but the factory wipers are still happy three years in. My car moves the wipers a little every time you park so the blades don't always rest in the same position and that supposedly helps them last longer. Too many variables for me to know if that is truth or marketing (the blades definitely park in different spots but I have insufficient information as to the potential positive benefit).

For my wifes car, I normally get michelins from costco and replace as needed (every few years). Meh, they are fine, not too much money and I have no major complaints. I used to use summer and winter wipers but stopped switching over a few vehicles ago and just leave one set on year round.

EDIT:
They were Bosch Aerotwins not icons. OEM passenger side wiper tore at flex point. Switched now. New wipers seem ok.

Jiffy lube tosses in free blades with oil changes periodically. Last LOF they tossed a pair of Michelin blades on the driver seat for me to install.

I bought a set of whatever they sell at Costco last summer.

They're the noisiest crappiest wiper blades I've ever owned. Unless there's torrential rain to lubricate things they chatter and bang back and forth. The intermittent wipers have become almost useless.

Gotta buy something new soon, they drive me nuts.

Another vote for Bosch Icons. Also, Rain-x is pretty good too.
edit: not the rain-x wipers but the chemical treatment.

I did rain x once. Now I clay bar the windshield maybe once a year and wax it twice a year. Quiet wipers with no drag to wear them down.

Don’t even need to turn them on when at speed.

The sun is much hotter than it used to be in your Dad's era. Remember when it was yellow? It's now white. This scorching sun does a number on wiper blades and composite headlights.

The guy formerly known as Mladin.

Wipers dry out don't contact the windshield properly. That's why they leave streaks on the glass. If you clean the wiper blade with WD40, they'll become more flexible and the streaking will be gone.

Try that before you go out and buy new wipers.
Tried that for a week before I posted here.
