Will this happen here?

There's one pr around here I'd love to be banned. Bugger has open pipes, and loves to over-rev.

It seems to be flavor of the month for some european governments. Other countries have been putting in motorcycle-specific restrictions, too.

"Loud pipes cost rights"

We have noise reduction and limit bylaws, limited in implimentation as its a municipal thing. It could easily happen here.

Noise is only one component of vehicle emissions control;
Is Canada going to clamp down on vehicle emissions control tampering more here in the future?
I think that is a given.

The US is putting a huge smackdown on vehicle emissions starting Sept 1. Many manufacturers have ceased production and will no longer sell aftermarket performance downpipes (high flow or no cat). I think the fine to the manufacturer (seller? importer?) is $500K per device so they are just disappearing from the market.

Just stamping "For off-road competition use only" apparently won't cut it any more.

I assume this will also apply to motorcycle exhausts that mess with the cat but haven't looked to see if that is true. That will put a huge smackdown on HD profit as I don't think many leave the showroom without an "off-road competition use only" exhaust. I am surprised that they have gotten away with that loop hole for so long (it's hard to argue you didn't know when you both installed the off-road exhaust and plated the bike for the customer).
