Will I get pulled over if...

I had an accident last weekend where someone clipped me at the rearend of the bike. No major damage except I had to duct tape around the tail light section. Will I get pulled over by that? The tape is to prevent the tail light section from falling.

If everything works you should be OK except you might attract attention depending how bad it looks.

I had to jury rig the wiring on my bike once because of an attempted theft and was running without lights at night (City). I got pulled over but the cop let me go when I showed him the occurence report.

Do you have any paperwork from the other to show it's a recent event and about to be fixed?

Ok, so not really understanding this, but why is this an issue? I ask this question as I'm not originally from here,.. If everything works, then why is it a problem?

Is this related to why cars have that sticker saying "damage has been reported to collision centre" - something else I don't understand the need to have? Why do people have those stickers?

If someone can explain that, I'd appreciate it. Thanks

If it's working, I don't see an issue, as long as the light is working and duct tape isn't obscuring too much of the light.
That being said, don't ride like a fool and draw heat and you'll reduce your chances of getting pull over.

Tape isn't obscurring any part of the lights at all. It's just that I had to wrap a silver ductape on a red body fairing around the tail light section. No reports being made as the collission occured on my driveway when wife accidentally drove onto the rear end of the bike. It's just that I'm not looking on any repairs this season so not to miss all the awesome days were having.

A picture speaks a thousand words but from your description, it sounds fine.

No.

no can explain this? why we get the "damage reported to police" stickers?

use clear silicon to hold it and tape it. let it sit over night then take off tape works well

If your car has damage to lights, or other safty hazards, you are not allowed to drive.
If it has JUST happened, and your car will be fixed and you already have the appointment, you are allowed to drive it untill it goes to the shop.
The stickers are given so that you dont keep getting pulled over for it.

In the case of your bike, as long as nothings falling off, it should be ok.. i have seen cars with headlights taped on by ducktape, so i dont think its a problem.

I have been driving for years with clear packaging tape holding in my tail light on one car (broke the housing changing the bulb), the other car has lots of dents from my wife getting hit by polls in the condo parking garage :(, no problem there either.

In the end you are likely OK as long as it is not hanging off. Being a tail light you may want to use clear packaging tape in stead of Duck Tape. They also sell clear Duck Tape, but I have not been impressed by it.

aaaah.. ok, thanks for the explaination bullseye

If you have to ask...

Thanks for all the replies. With the amount of duct tape that I used to wrap the tail end, I believe 100% it won't fall off. However, its quite an eye sore seeing it that way. I'll be selling it soon after I convert it to a streetfighter. Maybe next year.
