Back corner of the house was a wifi black hole. Could not even get the phones to reach the app store etc.
Plug these guys in ....chase down the app by going outside to access the 4g network  - it all connects automatically and just add a password.

I've had a few bad experiences with that TP link in a business so I stick to ASUS or encourage them to spend money on commercial hardware. Ironically, I have what you are using at my parent's home and it's been working fine for ~18+ months....

You're stealing bandwidth from the total potential bandwidth of the wifi signal for the back channel communications for the mesh. Better to use wired connections for the back channel, however it's more intrusive since you have to run dedicated ethernet. I have that configuration in my place using Ubiquiti APs. There are also APs that plug into the wall outlet and use the mains wiring for the back channel.

I have a similar setup. Wired ethernet throughout the house with AP's where I need them (ubiquiti as well). But I thought the newer WIFI specs (WIFI 6+) overcame this bandwidth problem with dedicated channels/streams etc which are not part of the shared coverage.

I considered hard wiring but crawling under the house ( we are a low Queenslander ) in the wet season is a non-starter.

I used 1 gig ethernet for back channel from ubiquiti wifi 6 AP's. The wired back channel is the speed limiting connection. In reality, I'm not editing video from a remote server so it's all good enough for me. If I go with fibre internet, I have an sfp+ link ready for fibre to network so again, either internal ethernet or connection to world will be the limiting factor.

@MacDoc Excellent solution, but I had to chuckle at the use of "Bigger House" in your thread title...

Not sure why the "bigger house" brought a chuckle...it's overkill for many situations.. I was getting by on an extender but since I score $200 selling the 6 station mesh we had in Mississauga figured I treat myself to a 3 station and still be $$ ahead.
The extender did not solve the 4k or phone issue in the back corner aka wireless black hole but the mesh did.

Streaming music and 4k at the same time gets into marginal again. 1440 is okay not full 4k + music.
Wish it got the full bandwidth that was at the router.
80 down.

Just got me thinking, how many people will be buying a bigger house in 2023..

I’m considering it. Depending on how things go at work in January, we may be able to pull the trigger. But I love my lot very much, and the neighbourhood.

It’s 80-90k just in paperwork and taxes to move so factor that in

Oh I know. Guys aren’t working today but damn their work looks good.

All framing and roof built up within 5-7 days once they got cranking.

I'm surprised the windows are relatively small on a new build. Saves on HVAC but most people are going huge for light (and then covering them for privacy so you lose most of the light and waste money on HVAC).

I also haven’t looked behind to see how open that is. But it’s all wooded there so may be full of window space.
