Why did the turkey cross the road?

To test the braking capability of my Bandit! HAHA!

Just a friendly reminder to all riders that anytime is animal time. I was riding up the 507 around 10:30 am today en route to Barry's Bay and a turkey ran out in front of my bike! Luckily I was not going too fast, applied the breaks and was able to swerve around the turkey.

Also seen in the middle of the road while on our ride today were several squashed furry animals, mostly porquipines and racoons, 3 turtles taking their sweet time to cross the road, a tree limb that was blocking 2/3 of the 517, and a pool noodle.

Very little traffic on the way out, but when we started heading back to Peterborough around 1:30 pm the traffic was getting pretty heavy and lots of folks making unsafe passes trying to get to the cottage 2 minutes faster.

Have a great weekend and keep it safe out there!

And a turkey by the downed tree!

Up by Belfountain - there was also a dinner plate sized land tortoise wandering along the side of the road.

I've run over a small raccoon - bike hardly noticed - nasty crunch tho.

Burgman versus deer - Burgman won....barely.

Deer dead, rider shaken but stayed upright and rode the bike home.

I've seen deer cross the back roads even midday in wooded areas - have an eye out.
