who needs an injection

People are going to do drugs, whether there is a safe place to do them or not. Since everyone in Ontario is guaranteed free health care, why would you not want to have a place where drug users can use drugs in a safer manner? Overall, this saves money, because rather than shooting up in alleys with dirty needles and getting all sorts of diseases, they can go to a clean, safe place, get a clean needle, do their drugs, and if anything goes wrong get instant medical care.

Anyone who is against this purely for cost reasons is ignoring the savings this brought to literally every city with the same plan.

I also disagree with our incredibly out of date drug policy, but thats not what is at debate here. But I am pretty sure no one in Ontario over the age of 18 has been in any real trouble for smoking a joint in the last 10 years, considering it is a misdemeanor.

love the comparison between the worst possible scenario and the best possible scenario. Fact is, Toronto already has a program where free needles are handed out, as well as condoms, etc you name it.

We are already in a way doing what they propose, just adding a "safe" place to do it. Screw that. Whats next, "oooh the poor drug addicts are shooting up garbage and getting sick cuz they cant afford the primo stuff, better make sure we offer free drugs as well, we dont want those people shooting up garbage"

Should we build a mall for shoplifters?

Build a track for speeders?

I am not saying it's a bad idea, but where do we draw the line?

They shouldn't offer free drugs because drugs should be decriminalized. Last I heard Portugal is doing ok.

It is illegal to commit suicide, illegal to request your own death, but we should be offering addicts the option to safely kill themselves slowly? The hell?

The idea is that our tax money is supposed to fund someone else's drug addiction, in hopes that we won't have to use that tax money to pay for their healthcare? Either way, that money is being used for and because of their addiction, and it's delusional to think that there is a "safe" way to shoot up. It's all going to result in the same, perhaps just a little less quickly.

Why don't we offer rehabilitation and recovery programs? And while it maybe akin to comparing apples to oranges, I refuse to support a program like this when I still can't freely sit on a park bench an smoke my drug of choice. The guy next to me can poison me with his second hand, the wack-job down the alley is supposed to be able to walk into a clinic to shoot up, but the marijuana smokers need to be leery of the fact that, despite being perfectly competent and contributing members of society (at least no less than the rest), we are still criminals and can be punished as such.

Poppycock.

We let cigarette smokers kill themselves slowly

From my understanding you can not rehabilitate most of these people that do hard drugs such as heroin.
It physically changes your brain. Yes, I am sure some can quit but I think most prefer to stay high.

Just run a one way ferry to Centre Island or one way into the Rogers Dome.
