I'm straight Anglo. What is the babe trying to sell me or is it the Chinese Revenue Agency after my back taxes?

Have gotten the same "SCAM" call over the last 3 - 4 years. Last time I checked, call came from Georgia, USA.

I have a 416 number and get calls from everywhere including Switzerland but a lot of calls echo the first three numbers of my phone. I was in Barrie the other day and got one from Orillia and wondered if they were tracking. I don't have tracking enabled.

I have voip with 647 number. Don't get many 'scam' calls, but this one persists.

The “we need to inspect your furnace“ people were getting annoying so I asked them to send everything by snail mail so my legal team could look over it. Been quiet since.

you gave them your address?

For real though, what are they actually saying? I think the earliest I remember getting these they started off by saying they were calling from Fido. That was more than a few years ago.

I did notice recently that the VoIP number spoofing seems to be breaking down, so technically things are getting better? Less than half the time do they look like a local number anymore, just a random sequence of numbers that's too long to even be an NA number

I thought it was some marketing from AliEXpress which I have an account with.

As per the wife (Chinese) it’s the usual smorgasbord of Revenue Canada and Health Ontario saying you owe money. Pay or get arrested.

Mother in law got a call from a ‘police chief’ in HK. Said her bank accounts in HK had received funds from organized crime and they needed her financial info to verify and trace it. He sent a copy of his HK ID and provided a few other details. I was almost thinking it *might* be on the up and up but then the usual threats of police coming from HK to arrest her in Canada started. Took me days to convince her to stop talking to them, she’s 70+ and an immigrant. She was super nervous.

For me, those calls are usually from a 647 number. My number is also a 647. I dont understand how they can hope to accomplish anything with a
Chinese recording.
I just recently installed a call blocking app that sends all callers who are not in my contacts list to voicemail. Unfortunately there don't seem to be any apps that don't send the call to voicemail, so I think for the app developers, it's technically impossible to do that.

If it's duct cleaning I book an appointment and give them the address of the house across the street that's been torn down and is mired in permit issues.

iphone has this built in, unknown callers go right to voice mail. Yeah that would be great if it didn't go to voicemail just let them listen to static or something.

Hmmm. I mostly get calls with suspicious charges on my Visa. I find it very suspicious that the two amounts they always quote (one for 400$ and one $700) are both magically ending in an even 100$.

Do these apps let it 'ring' a few times before going to voicemail? I dont want them to know they are blocked, just not being answered.
