Where to buy good quality Torque Wrench?

I tried to google where I can buy a good quality torque wrench for when I am doing oil changes for my GSXR.

I saw one at Canadian Tire, but the review said it was pretty crap. Any suggestions? Or have any of you used this and think its good for doing little things on the GSXR?

Torque wrench.. for oil changes... sorry

If you're so dead-set on getting one, the 'crappy' ones from CT are fine.

I have one from ct. The maximum series. Quite pricy but if it every breaks it has lifetime warranty.

Also princess auto sells them.

Good tool to have if u own a bike, just taking off the wheels you have to torque 3 things a wheel

Lol, I have never done an oil change before on a bike, so I want to be prepared :D I thought I didn't need it, but apparently there are maximum in-lb that needs to be set.

Canadian tire has the maximum 3/4 and 1/2 on sale for about $60... they usually go for $120.

Sears has Torque wrenches as well. JMO but if you're only getting it to do oil changes, I'd pass, with a crush washer in place a torque wrench is un-necessary.

Is the sale on right now?? As soon as I'm back to civilization Thursday I'm gonna grab one if they have one in in/lb.

OP buy an in/lb wrench. Everything from clutch plate bolts, motor internals, tripple clamp crimp bolts etc are all in range of an in/lb wrench. A ft/lb wrench won't go low enough for most jobs on a bike.

To go from ft/lb to in/lb just x by 12 :)

Do not buy the standard Mastercraft torque wrenches, they are crap according to GTAM - they will break or overtorque your stuff. The Mastercraft Maximum torque wrenches are okay, I have used mine for years (it's held its calibration well) plus if it physically breaks, you get a new one. They go on sale many times a year.

Either way no CT torque wrenches appear to be on sale at the moment.

I just came back from there and the promotion was only until the 11th. :(. But they should have another sale before fathers day.

And I agree... Don't buy the normal master craft torque wrench, they are crap. Get the maximum. You can see the difference because the maximum has a case.

I have the smaller 'maximum' torque wrench and bigger (1/2") "regular" mastercraft. Both are OK for the price.

I have a $350 snap-on torque wrench, change oil for myself and other people all the time....And have never ever used my torque wrench...I have also never had a drain bolt come loose, or stripped the threads...So IMO it is really not needed just for an oil change...

The problem with cheaper torque wrenches are they are not accurate, so buyer beware...

Yep... I do at least 10 oil changes a year and have 2 drain plugs on the bike, never used a torque wrench. Finger tight then 1/4 to 1/2 turn and good. Never have had one come out, never messed up the threads.

Channel locks will work for oil changes, I bought a 7 dollar one at walmart last year to do the job on my CBR and now for my SV650. I use $10 HiFlo filters and they haven't been punctured yet. Or you can get K&N filters with the screw on the end and just use a plain wrench to tighten.

Keep your receipt, and understand how a torque wrench works. The CT ones are fine, but don't use a little one for a big job, or vice versa. And it is NOT a good substitute for a breaker bar!! ;)

The pro "maximum" series was recommended to me by another rider. I've no complaints on that score. Bought on sale. :)

I've also used a sears craftsman, but I broke the plastic locking ring pretty quickly on it.

I dont know if the sale is still on, but there is a $19.99 1/2" Torque wrench on at Princess Auto.

Just go to their site and do a search for torque wrench to see if its still on sale.

Another +1 for the Maximum ones from Can Tire. Wait for a sale, they always go on sale at some point.

Walk in and get a new one.
I don't love Sears, but i do buy Craftsman tools, because they will replace whatever breaks, no questions asked.
Canadian Tire insists on a receipt for Mastercraft, which is BS.

when I was doing the clutch on my bike, torque specifications were 15-20ft.lbs

the wrenches from CT are 50 to 250 Ft. Lbs.

so, where to buy good quality Torque Wrench?
