Where to buy battery acid in GTA?

Hi everyone. I bought a new battery and I need to get it filled with acid. I heard that most non-sealed batteries come with an acid pack, but since I bought mine online, it came without the acid. Where can I buy the stuff (or get it filled), preferably in the north end of the city. Thanks a lot!

How much was this battery without acid?
Personally I'd buy batteries locally. If that battery turns out to be defective, they will probably blame the acid which you have purchase seperately. You will not likely be able to return it even if they do warranty it since it would be full of acid now.

+1 for Glen @ Flying Squirrel Motorcycle

If wal-mart automotive, or Costco, or Canadian Tire won't supply it as a separate item,, [check with the mechanics] .. then any industrial forklift battery repair place will have it.. no problem.. google that,

or,,,,,,,, you can add water and charge it... adding the acid brings it to a level of charge, then you trickle charge it.. and it is done.. adding water will require a longer charge to bring it to a full charge..... there is some debate if you need distilled water, or just tap water ....as tap water is pretty clean, if it was me, i'd leave tap water in a open container over night,, the chlorine will evaporate,, and then fill battery,, and use a smart charger... ymmv

I would think that any CTC would fill it for you. Or NAPA, or PartSource. Do not use water, you must fill with acid on the initial fill. Let it sit for an hour and then trickle charge.

From experience, CTC, nor NAPA nor a lot of local places will have it. I needed to buy Bat acid for a project and it turned into a mission.

ended up buying 20L of Bat acid right here:

they are at 400 and Finch, 20L cost me, i believe $27. They do also carry smaller quantities. Believe me, that is your #1 choice. Other places could order it for me, but at something like $20 a liter...insane mark-up.

have left over from my battery, probably not sufficient to fill yours fully. but you can have it for a few bucks

LOL, I'm surprised a technical guy like you didn't find it easily.

I have 99.9% sulphuric acid. Quite stable at that concentration but if mixed with a little water it burns through anything. Wood & paper becomes charred.

I don't know where my measuring cylinders are anymore, I don't think I can mix a batch.

Sounds like 99.9% pure hydrogen peroxide. That ish is nutty :(

Description on the container it came in: For removing flesh from display skeletons.

lol?

99.9% is quite stable. Its when it becomes mixed in water at high conc. when it becomes corrosive. It actually fumes & becomes hot as it is mixed

You said it...battery acid is at a certain concentration...i def didnt want to play with it....and when i said "mission" i meant i made 10 calls and nobody wanted to help...lol. I know!! my life is SOOOO difficult!

Well, I did have to beg the guy since it was such a high conc. He's probably scared I'll throw it in someone's face

Glen at Flying Squirrel is a good start, he moves alot of batteries and can probably get the acid easily.

I had that problem once, I ordered a battery for a friend from Super Pete, unfortunately it didn't come with the acid.

I was close to Snow City, popped in there and asked, the guy in the back mentioned that the shop has a large container of acid for batteries that they use to fill all of the ones they sell.

If Flying Squirrel doesn't have any for you, try the larger bike shops like Snow City, Kahuna Powersports, Suzuki Newmarket, etc. Good chance they will have acid and in the right concentration for your battery (the concentration for your specific battery may be different from what Canadian Tire/Napa/etc uses for car batteries).

Not bring up a thread from the dead but upon searching I found this thread. I need a new battery and I've called Glen for 2 days straight and all I get is a voicemail and no calls back. Does anyone know if this guy answers his phone!

Thanks

Glen is a busy guy these days since he is a 1-person shop. He tends not to answer the phone when someone is there to pick up parts, so not to be rude.

Best bet is to shoot him an email, the address is on his website. He usually gets back same day or next day.

Cheers

Normally he his very good at returning calls. Maybe he is on vacation and forgot to change the message. Its a one man operation.
