I don't see as many organized rides as I've seen in past years. Where has everyone gone? Has organized rides become the "uncool" thing?

Police seem to think that the person leading the ride is responsible for everyone following them. I have some links somewhere from years past, rider wipes out and leader charged with dangerous driving causing death

I would like to see that because it sounds like an urban myth from a friend of a friend.

I don't think two riders would be considered a group ride if I remember this incident correctly it was two random riders who didn't know each other and a race or whatever broke out.
Now on a group ride there is no racing as the leader is the LEADER and everyone should follow and ride their own ride.
I can't see how a leader of a group ride would be held responsible for some other riders error.

I would love to get charged with that just to watch the charges go down in flammes in a court of law, you have to prove men's rea beyond a reasonable doubt, and how could I have men's rea of someone's death when he crashes behind my back 300 ft behind me?
There are no more organized rides anymore because when a ride happens the people exchange phone numbers and then they text each other for other rides after that, now multiply this fact by 100 and almost everybody just gets a text from his group to meet somewhere.

2 riders is grossly different from a group ride. If they can prove the racing part, the other rider/driver would be nailed. Its happened many times before.
I have not posted a ride for 2 years I am thinking of a 507,calabooge,ompa stomp ride. It would be close to 1000 k for some folks

Now I need to pick a weekend with good weather. Ths is looking like a bigger challange

1st.
Really... that's not a group ride.
2nd. Mavis and the 401 is not an ideal location to speed/race/have fun whatever you want to call it.
3rd.
Really? This is very far from a group ride. Key words. street racing, dangerous driving and suspended. Any group rides I've been on were nothing like this in any possible way. If they ever did turn out this way I'd be heading in the opposite direction. So the cops that want to be all over groups because we're riding with more than ourselves can suck it. I'm personally sick of the attitude from them and the looks just because I'm with other people on sport bikes.
Officer Woodford should be instructed to take his head out of his ***. I've seen many "not sport motorcycles" being operated dangerously and speeding even after being in the bar parking lot all day. :thefinger:
I'm doing Bancroft area next weekend, overnight. Want to hit as many roads there as possible. Route suggestions welcome.
And yes, definitely less organized rides than before. I cannot pinpoint the main cause.
