When are helmet lines usually released?

I was at my local bike shop of choice and was discussing buying a new helmet with the staff. Their recommendation was that I should wait "a while" because helmet manufacturers would soon announce the next year's line of helmet styles, meaning that discount's on "last year's" models would be likely. Unfortunately, I didn't think to ask how long 'a while' is.

So... what month(s) do the major helmet manufacturers usually announce their helmet lines for the year?

Depends on the manufacturer, but I'd expect to see most new 2012 models in stock between now and Christmas. If you're looking for a Shoei, their 2012 line-up has just been released online.
