iPhones are $0.99/yr, Android $1.99/yr, don't know what it is for Blackberry, I would assume $1.99 as well?
 
Viber seems cool too and it's free.
Tango looks good as well.

I got the $1.99 msg on my BB as well.

I deleted the app off my phone, and downloaded it again, and it seems to be working just fine.
 
That doesn't work anymore. I just installed it on a new phone and linked it to my old profile and it asked me to pay... I'm just going to stop using it lol
 
bought it for my iphone for .99c a few months ago. Well worth it to avoid being charged for excessive texting or pictures/MMS. If you were using it before and liked it, and $1.99/YEAR is your deciding factor to not continue to use it... wow.

lol knowing him, it's probably the principle, not the money.

I was gonna say the same thing: I've tried them all and not counting bbm or ichat, whatsapp is easily better than all the other cross-platform messaging apps. With the principle aside, 2 bucks is a small price to pay.
 
Well, they gotta generate ca$h somewhere.. I'd rather pay .99/year and not see stupid ads, which slow down both the phone and the app.
 
Most apps start off as free as their trial basis, and as the app grows popular they slap a price on it!
you basically have to be on the app store constantly and downloading anything that looks good before they hit ya with money later! Or...... Be like me and have a nice jail broken phone and get everything for free! Just saying lol
