Whats the deal with temp plate permits?

Buying an old car, would like to be able to drive it to get safety done etc. Whats the procedure to get a temp permit? Do you register the car first? How does it work..

ahhh I just read that again and its clearer now...at first the "The original fit vehicle permit;" part threw me off, but its referring to the sellers signed ownership

So basically I just need the signed ownership, UVIP, and an insurance policy.

its all about timing!

The key to going to the one on Centennial, is 5:30pm. I was 3rd in line last week (after getting the 'heads up' about the timing). The week before that, late morning, the lineup was through the hoops, and back to the door.
