It's a concrete basement floor possibly two notched cuts and 40 tiles width trimmed. Obviously materials are extra. Probably 12" tiles.

Question 2: How do you know the installer is any good before they start? I've seen disasters.

$3-5 a sq ft is typical going rate. That includes them supplying everything except the ceramic tile. Should be closer to the lower end of that figure considering its a concrete floor and slightly less work involved.

Ask for references, talk to people, look at their past work.

A good contractor would be proud to show you their work.

DON"T EVER pay them in full until they are fully done, and you are satisfied.

If the guy is confident in their work, they will gladly wait till they are done before getting fully paid.

If you are the least bit handy, this is easily a DIY project. Can even buy an inexpensive wet saw to do the cutting for under $100. It is a bit intimidating at first to dive in, but once you finish you'll realize that it wasn't that hard. There are many how to videos out there, do some homework, and save yourself some money and have the satisfaction of doing it yourself.

I use to do this when i was younger. Not hard to do at all. There are spacers that are available so u wont go wrong. When we didnt have that we use to pull lines to get the correct alignment
