Whats a good place to get your bike serviced? Hows Motorcycle City in Richmond Hill? Any other suggestions?

Well .. If you're under warranty, i'd recomend a dealer, just go in, speak to some of the service guys, see if you get a good vibe from them !

If you're not in warranty, definetely deal with Z1 Cycletech in Richmondhill/Thornhill.

You can speak with Glenn, he's a very stand up guy and is always in it to help you out ! HIs mechanics are top notch too, I took a tour of the shop, they keep that place looking good as new ! Very clean shop !

Very helpful, thank you very much for the quick reply and helping out a newbie!

Depends on where you are in the city.

Ken ( Kneedragger88 ) is out in Bowmanville and is a great guy to deal with.
Very honest, very reliable and will take great care of your bike!

If you're in the west end, then PM Johnny ( JohnnyP636 ) and he will hook you up!
Anything you want done, great prices, awesome services and he knows damn well what he's doing.
He can work on the bike while you watch and will take his time to explain things thoroughly so that you're aware of what's going on.

Here's a thread with a lot of pictures of some work he did on my bike...

I'm coming from Vaughan so Ken is too far for me, where is Johnny located? Johnny looks like he would rather do repairs and mods, I feel like I would waste his time just for a simple servicing.

He's out in Mississauga, around the 403/Eglinton area.
I'm sure he wouldn't mind.

What work are you looking to get done anyway?

I just bought my bike a few weeks ago and the previous owner said no work needs to be done on the bike other than replacing the chain, but I was told that it would be good for another season. Even the tow truck driver gave me his opinion and said he's seen worse. I just want him to do an oil change and a quick look through everything to see if anything else needs to be looked at. Bike has already passed safety and ready for the road, just wanna do spring service on the bike. Is there a list of things I need to look at after winterizing a motorcycle?

In all honesty, you should learn to do your own oil changes at the very least.
Download the service manual here, it's for a 750 but the 600 will be the same.
I would personally check/change the air filter, spark plugs and drain all the fluids and refresh.
He can install your new chain/sprockets, he wouldn't mind.
Are you keeping the stock gearing?

Yes I do plan on doing my oil changes, I just wanted to watch someone do it for me first so that way I don't mess anything up when I do it. And what do you mean by gearing? Like the transmission? Most likely yes. I don't plan to race or anything.

This will explain things much better than I could.

I changed my gearing to -1 tooth in the front sprocket to +2 teeth in the rear sprocket and it's by far the best mod I have ever done to my bike.

And I just learned something new! I most likely won't be doing this as I am a new rider and I wanna get a feel for my bike before I do anything to it. But learning about this "gearing" mod, will prove to be useful in the future! Thanks

Thanks for the kind words. I pick up and drop off free in the GTA and am in Vaughan at least once a week . Just shout if you need me :)

Ken is great!
I got my first bike last season and had oil leak problems soon after I bought it. Ken was great with helping me get the bike fixed up.
Really appreciated all the help he gave me last season...hope I didn't bug him too much and he's down to help me out again this season :p

You can't go wrong with Ken! Great guy, great service

Just saw this now, and you're welcome :) . Sorry this was a late reply lol .

I'll just reply to a few others in here,

Ken is a great guy, i've had service done with him with my old 98 zx6r, and the service was great especially the free pick up and drop off ..

But my opinion now still stands that i prefer to deal with Z1 Cycle, not because of any bad service that Ken offerred, but because I enjoy being around when my bike is being worked on incase i need to ask something or answer a question for the mechanic, I was never like this before, but since I purchased a newer, lower KM bike, and now my brand new 2013 zx6r 636, i guess my ways have changed :) Plus Z1's prices are very competitive!.
