What's a fair price to pay for a Ninja 250 rear tire?

Hey All,

I went to my moto dealer today and got quoted $185.00 (+tax) for 130/70-17 stock tires plus $85.00 for labour.
[h=1][/h]It seemed damn high to me so I did some googleing and came across http://www.amazon.com/Shinko-SR741-...UTF8&qid=1340327773&sr=8-1&keywords=130/70-17. Does anyone have any experience with this brand of tire? Also saw a http://www.amazon.com/Bridgestone-B...UTF8&qid=1340327773&sr=8-2&keywords=130/70-17 which is only $25.00 more. Either way its a heck of a lot less than $185.00!

I guess I'm just wondering weather prices in the GTA are better than my smallish town because I'm willing to travel to get a better deal.

Thanks,

Trevor

I'm selling my stock IRC roadrunner 110/70/17(front) and 130/70/17(rear) set for $70. These are the OEM tires from a 2012 ninja 250r. I used them for 1000kms between April 18th and May 30th. You can get them installed at Heritage for another $80.

My thread is in the classifieds section.

Try petes here is a link to the best tires you will get for your 250 use the 140 rear, $120 for the front tire $140 for the rear you will have within 2 days.

BT003 tires have a high reputation but it should be said these tires don't talk about wet conditions much. Please do correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks for all the replies thus far! Some good info that lead me into research mode.

I have a 250 as well, I am on research mode as well about my Tires, but I do think you should consider your riding conditions and all that before getting tires. Some racer tires have amazing grip but keep in mind they are purely for track / dry conditions, etc etc..

Guys,
When I used to work in the business I did the Tire Survey for 250 Ninja.
All the tires for the new 250 - I found 7 brands. (Only four brands offered the 140/70-17 oversize).
The winner was Avon AM26. Best tire, best price.
They were V-rated for the same price as H-rated in the other brands...
Great tire too. It always rains in England, right?
They used to offer the 150/60R-17 rear radial, plus an oversized radial front, at that shop - but I never believed in it, I don't think the stock wheels are up to it.
Stick to the AM26,

H rated is more then enough for a ninja 250, though I have also heard good things about the Avon so +1.

You are correct. This is basically street legal racing DOT tire. It's not far off from a slick ... LOL which means that the wet performance is not very good.

For the OP, just learn to dismount the tire and take it to a place with your new tire. Fair place will charge you 20-30 bucks most for install.

Again wanted to thank you guys for providing me all this info and advice! The BT-003 sounds like a great tire but I do a decent amount of riding in crappy conditions. Is there a clear cut winner for a tire that performs well in wet and dry conditions? Competition Cycle's prices seem way way better than what I was first quoted so I think I'll have to go down there next week and have a look.

Thanks Again!
