What type of oil? - 1984 Shadow vt500

I was at Canadian Tire today and all they have for motorcycle oil is 20w50. Is this ok to run in my bike or should I find some 10w40 somewhere?

That is what I run in my track bike for the summer. Should be fine as long as you let the oil warm up, since it is heavier.
Then again, Canadian tire is not your only option.

Ya just the bike is a daily driver and I have it running in the morning to head to school. Since it liquid cooled it takes longer to warm up. By the time I get to school and shut off the bike is when the bike gets to operating temperature. Doesnt have very much time to get to a good operating range.

This bike is very cold blooded. It takes more time than most bikes around to get to operating temperature .... I would not use 20W50 in that bike. Go to Rider's Choice, plenty of good choices there in the right viscosity.
