What time does the Gardiner get unpassable?

I need to visit a few businesses and it would be most convenient for me to hit one in the Gardiner/DVP area, coming from the West End, first thing in the morning (7:30-8:00). Is the Gardiner already unpassable at that time or can I at least make it across the core doing 40ish? Also, would NB DVP be a major issue around 8-8:30?

i think it is just impassable at all times, all days isn't it? ;)

I expected that one.. Now let's see if someone will offer any specifics

Gardener: Between 7:30 - 8:00 PM it will be bad - it depends on the day though. You might be able to do 10 - 30km/h on most days if no accident.

DVP im not sure.

So Lake Shore might be a better option around 7?

More specific, depends if it's raining, or a truck has dumped it's load or any other minor factors that cause downtown traffic to grind to a halt.

DVP N/B early in the morning also sees heavy traffic flow.

Leave earlier, give yourself extra time and sit down at a coffee shop close to your intended destination and chill.

If you get on the gardiner at 7:30am in the west end (around Dixie?) you can expect to be at Gardiner/DVP in 45 minutes to 1 hour.

So if I get on it at Kipling, say, around 7:15, I should reach DVP by 8:00? Don't have a time set in stone, but I have to make a pretty wide round around the GTA.

Yep that sounds safe, if theres no accidents to deal with

I almost never take the Gardiner because I lke the option of alternates if things get bogged down. The Lakeshore then Queens Quay gives you options to skip up to Queen or King. A few more minutes on a good day and a lot less minutes on a bad one. Strachen was closed last week. Not sure if it's open now.

I always find eastbound on the Gardiner not bad at all. Nothing like westbound and nowhere near bad as the 401.

I've gone from South Kingsway to DVP in 15 minutes most mornings.

I've found it to be reasonably smooth around 10am (when I had flex time in Richmond Hill). Not sure about before 9am unless it's like 5-6.

I take dvp nb everyday at around 815, you will fly till the bloor exit, after all bets are off, if someone farts it will be gridlock

Strachan was closed on Sunday..they say June 29 and I would say it would be at least a week..

Gardeiner in the morning is bad! The 45 minutes from Dixie to DVP sounds about right. It's a bit of a toss up, some days it's better, some days it's worse. I find its' SLIGHTLY better in summer when the kids are off school. At the end of business hours I find its' MUCH better and there are times when i can get home in like 25 minutes compared to one hour going in but maybe cause I tend to leave 5:30-ish to 6:00 compared to right at 5 like a lot of people. It starts backing up around Islington area. Usually west of there is ok (which sucks for me now since I live by Islington now).

I go Eastbound every morning. Hit it before 7 if you can. Its slow until Spadina but opens up and even if its slow its still moving unlike the 401 which is stop go. DVP if you hit it before 715 which is doable if you hit the gardiner early enough, is clear. Backs up a bit around Lawrence but again it moves and opens up at the 401 easily. Or if you are on bike, hop off at Don Mills North and use the carpool lanes if its one of those 'someone ****ed up' days. I leave the house at 650 and I get in to work for 715 and I work at Leslie, York Mills.

Had to take the side-streets to avoid the mess b/w Islington and Park Lawn, but made it over in good time. Too soon as the reception desk opened at 8 lol. Getting up there was a mess until a little past the 401 and the crazy part was that it was a wasted trip to Newmarket. Getting back to Toronto wasn't an issue around 11ish.
