What other accessories and gears are worth getting?

Battery tender Jr. On sale this week at Canadian Tire for $29.99.

Also consider front and rear stands for maintenance and storing. Some front stands can be converted from lifting from the bottom of the forks to lifting from the steering stem. Good idea if you even need to work on the forks.

Tool sets are always on sale at Canadian Tire. Just gotta wait and if it seems good enough (usually 75% off is a good deal), then go for it.

Lots of other things you can buy, all depends on how much you want to spend and what you want. Look at some online catalogues. GP Bikes, Royal Distributing, canadasmotorcycle.ca, motorcycle-superstore.com, etc... just to name a few places to look through. Even ebay has some decent stuff. I'm off work right now for family reasons and I spend most of my day browsing and day dreaming. lol

hehe, thanks a a lot!
Forgot about the battery and tool set!

Noting that down. I pretty much want essential at the moment.

Also quick question on disc lock if anyone knows answer for, should i get two disc lock or just 1?
I was thinking to get two, one with alarm and another plain one.

When I was at Port Dover last year some guy on his Harley bent his forks when he forgot to remove his disc lock... so be extra careful if you are going this route... I would suggest rain gear and mesh jacket for the summer.

If you're really paranoid about that, get a coloured string/springy coil and attach it to your disc lock and clip it to your handlebar/ignition, etc. Mine has an alarm which also ensures I take it off before I ride.

You might wanna check out a tank bag/tail bag if you're using the bike to commute/day trips. Even just great for holding your phone/wallet and stuff so you're more comfortable, and sometimes makes a good pillow too.

Make sure you have extra fuses in your fuse box. I carry a few extra in my bag in case my Scorpio alarm acts up.

Frame sliders are probably the best 'accessory' you can get in my opinion.

Sometimes I'll carry a squashed (and cleaned) pop can or a rubber hockey puck to put under my kickstand on a hot hot day, parking on pavement (and if you ever wanted to park on grass).

Maintenance stuff like oil pan/funnel, chain lube, air pressure gauge

Riding lessons.

Doing that soon! in less then 2 weeks!

Oh yes, I am a little worried about the maintenance stuff, I think I will buy them as I need them (bad idea?).
I am debating how I want my bag, since I would like to carry my lunches!

Excuse my ignorance and lack of knowledge but what are the fuse ? and how does it work in the scenario of your alarm acting up?

This is a fuse, if the bike has a surge the fuse will blow. Have some spares in case the fuses blow, so you are not stranded unable to start your bike etc..

I know I would like to get some kind of security and a cover.

Is there something else I should consider getting?

Do you have your bike yet?

Like you said, just buy the essentials, for now. If you don't have your bike, I'd wait until after you got it before buying stuff. Our emotions have a way of making us buy way too much stuff we actually don't need. I'd hold off on buying an alarm and disc lock. Read past threads, and you can decide if you really need it or not. I don't have one. And, I actually bought one when I got my bike. But, returned the alarm once I stopped being so paranoid.

You don't really need to buy a cover. I use a bed sheet (the dirtier the better), and only use it during winter storage and to keep my bike safe from prying eyes.

If you already have a backpack, try that one first. I use my regular MEC pack, and it works just fine. No need for one of those "no drag" packs, unless you absolutely think you must have one.

I'd hold off on tools until you need them.

Vast majority of bike theft is committed in underground parking lots of condo towers. Very rarely from a street. Most alarms are usually little help as these guys know how to disable them and at any rate they throw the whole bike inside the van. A hidden tracking device would be probably better.
Nevertheless, unless your bike will be a newer Jap race motorcycle, don't worry about it being stolen too much. There is little demand for anything else.

As for other things, spend money on good gear first, don't worry about accessories or tools (basic tool kit comes with the bike anyhow (or it should)). Buy 2 jackets, one for warm and one for cold weather. Being comfortable while riding is crucial. Get boots, get pants. Many people don't have them. You will thank yourself if you ever go down. Get a pair of sunglasses, keep them on the bike. Too much sun and glare and your visibility is greatly reduced. Some times you may want to ride with your visor up (when it's foggy for example), glasses protect your eyes from the debris, bugs and such.
Make sure those glasses fit well underneath the helmet.

Tire pressure gauge. A decent one. I prefer dial face to digital.

I've got a disc lock that came with my bike and I've never used it once. I'm more worried that I'll forget to take it off than it getting stolen. If anyone wants it PM me.

A bike cover is something else you might want to get for winter storage. Not a necessity if stored indoors but it's cheap.

This really scares me.
Mine is gonna be a tiny little cbr125, not highly wanted but it can still happen right?
I truely don't live in a great area... Around Dixon and Kipling, thus my worries...

So yeah, thanks everyone else's intake, I will make a list and sort out which is more of greater importance.
(I already got myself a Jacket and gloves (but no pants))

Cover and Disc are my top.
Tools, fuses and battery charger(?) should be my next worries?

I'll check out sunglasses, I am not a big fan of them though...

You'll be fine, get a old looking cover and parking it so its wedged between the wall/ pillar and your car to make it harder if they ever wanted to steal your bike.

I usually just carry safety glasses for those occasions. Also for (tinted visor) night riding since I almost never carry a spare clear visor.

Make sure you have theft insurance then don't worry about it. Nothing you can reasonably do anyway.

Finish getting you gear. Rain gear is nice if you are planning to commute. Tank bag or backpack/messenger bag for carrying stuff. Personally I ride with ear plugs. Pick up a box at the start of the season from a safety supply place. If you don't know what ones fit you you can get sample packs.

So I'm getting back into the sport this year after a fairly long hiatus. If it helps here's what I bought right away.

Outdoor cover (garaged but you never know)
Tail bag and a cargo net
Stands
Alarm

Other than that make sure you get some good gear and you're ready to go.

- GoPro or Contour Camera
- 12 Volt outlet
- Throttle Rocker (best $10 I ever spent, works very well on a long ride, check Ebay.)
- phone/navigation mounts

Yes if you're storing outdoors then get an outdoor cover. A bed sheet will keep your bike soaked.

If you don't end up getting any tank/saddle bags, make sure to at least have a plastic bag in your trunk. If god forbid you ever lowside or anything you'll want to pick up the parts and most jackets dont' have pockets (Afaik, unless they're a touring jacket).
