The pink thing, Pretty sure I’ve seen other pro athletes wear them too, what are they?

Tape. We used to tape our ankles playing football way back in the '70's.
It's been taken to a whole new level now.

By the size of his knuckles I would say the guy has severe arthritis and the pink is an elasticized restraint to keep from a death grip on the throttle

I've lived on a computer since 1990. I'm amazed my wrists haven't given up yet, kinda dreading the day it catches up with me. ☹️
I put a trackball under my left hand for work computer. Balances out the wear and tear with my typical right hand mousing.

The pic is of Aleix Espargaro, who broke the little finger outermost metacarpal on that hand last weekend. He was hoping to race this weekend, but has withdrawn/been ruled out. The KT tape wouldn't offer much support, but it's basically all that you'd be able to fit under the glove.

Apparently it's supposed to lift the skin to promote better blood flow for faster healing. My daughter swears by the stuff, but I never bothered to look into how it works. Not sure if this is the same stuff football players put on their noses?

It's like the sticky part of a fabric bandaid with a fairly firm elasticity, but it only stretches in one direction. The packaging and marketing material state the benefits are "suggested by academic hypothesis, not clinically proven". I haven't actually tried it for its intended purpose.

The waterproof stuff sticks quite a bit better than other types of tape if you apply it to dry skin. I use it on fingers to cover small cuts or places that tend to blister under the gloves. It will also stay firmly stuck for weeks over a gnarly toenail while waiting for it to grow back in.

KT Tape. You can use it in different configurations to reduce arm pump when racing, and in this case it's probably to mitigate pain from finger injuries like tendonitis or arthritis.

He hurt his hand picking up the ladies...

How does it fare with unintended hair removal for the hairier of the species? Does it require expert application or is it DIY friendly. I have an issue with a ligament, MCL.

I find the adhesive marginally sticky at best. Less than a bandaid for the stuff I have (larger area stuck so they can get away with less sticky?).

We used to have ankle wrap, which I think was just 2" long cotton strips with little or no elasticity. Trainer would wrap that around and finish with tape. Now everything seems disposable. What happened to reduce reuse recycle?

I'm naturally well insulated too, so I've only used small pieces on my hands and fingers. The water-resistant stuff sticks really well, especially if you let it set for a couple of hours before getting it wet, but I think with patience you could get it off without too much deforestation. The regular stuff is probably friendlier, but I haven't tried it.

The guy = Aleix Espargaro.

He finished sixth overall in MotoGP last year, and appears to be going through his Eminem circa year 2000 era phase right now
