What is the best "Track" tire? (not race tire and not street tire)

So here is my situation: not going to be running at race pace, and don't want to run street tires on the track, and don't ride on street anymore

Race tires just don't last very long, and street tires are just too hard for track-only.

Based on my research there are two tires that fit my criteria: pirelli superbike pro, and bridgestone BT003 pro, both cost about the same (320-330)

Just wondering which is the best "track" tire in terms of grip and longevity? looking for opinion from people who actually used them.

Thanx!

003R pro are most definitely race tires, I've been on the podium on them twice this season.

The BT003RS might fit your needs a little better.

Thanks, how many laps do they last in a track like Cayuga? Can you get maybe 4 track days out of them (~260 laps?)

+1

Plenty of street tires like the BT003RS and even BT016 would work for the OP.

I got the superbike pro rear on my r6 1 3hr endurance race, 2 morning practices, 1 trackday at cayuga and 2 days at calabogie and still going strong.I use a sc1 front just cuz it grips and lasts forever the front did the same amount of time except for my bogie trip

You may also want to check out the Dunlop 211 GPA's. I've used them the last year or so as a step up from a street tire to a track tire. I've been very happy with them and if your suspension is set up right and proper tire pressure they should last well for you. Not saying the other tires are not good, but it's another tire to check out.

What pace are you running? What bike? Are you running warmers?

I've had good success with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa tires on my SV650. They lasted me 6 track days (3 SMP 3 TMP) without warmers, running fairly quick in advanced group.

I went with the diablo superbike pro's this year. Running red group on an 08 1000RR, looks like they will get about 6 days w/ warmers. Really really happy with the tires and would recommend them in a heartbeat.

wow that is a lot of track days for one set of tires!
Actually I never thought of that, using a softer front tire with a harder longer lasting rear. come to think about it, my rear always wears out faster than my front.

Why buy new tires??? you can save tons of money if you just get take off from someone who races. also u almost be asured that the tire have been taken care of because they need to be. I bought takes off all last year and would get between 3 and 4 days on a rear and 5 or 6 to a front. there are lost of racers that uses them for 10-20 laps then take them off and sell them for 120-150 bucks

Yes thats another good option as long as they are low lap tires with current dates we sell 10-15 lap R-10's for $100 set

what's the diff between R10 pro and BT003PRO? are they the same but one is for 1000cc and one is for 600cc?

Consider the Pirelli Pro slick. They last like crazy.

My thoughts are, bad crash on Pirelli's and wouldn't put them on again (not the tyres fault) I was asking to much out of them on a damp track, the BT003 will give you no warning when it is gone off, the R10 takes 2-3 laps to come up to temp even with warmers on but have better grip than the 003, what I would suggest is the Dunlop D211GP excellent tyre. Just because this is what I think of the different tyres dos'nt mean I'm right, different tyres suit different people
