What do you wear?

So I'm trying to get into track days and was wondering what gear everyone wears. More specifically, chest protectors. Do you wear one? Are the comfortable? I watched a lot of reviews saying a back protector is almost a must, but didn't mention much about the chest. I'm leaning towards buying one but just wanted to see many people actually wear one.

Here is my list of what I plan to wear:

RS Taichi GP-WRX R302 Leather Race Suit
2010 Bell Star helmet
Astar Gp plus gloves
Astar Smx plus boots
back & chest protector

Never bothered with a chest protector...

Dainese Laguna Seca Pro 1 piece - Other than some scuffs, it held up great during my crash, definitely did it's job.
Dainese Wave back protector
Dainese Full Metal Racer gloves - Was wearing Five RFX1 when I crashed and never again.
Shoei X-12
Daytona Evo Sports boots - Not a problem to my feet/ankles even though I did a few summersaults

Back protectors are mandatory for most trackday providers now. I see a few guys wearing a chest protector, most of them are one piece with chest/back built in.

As for myself;
Nexo One Piece
Bell Helmet
Velocity Gloves
Daytona Boots
Knox Race Back Protector
Hit Air Vest.

Mina - I read about your crash in the other thread. Hope you get well soon! I can see why someone called you a Daniese whore lol. I must say, their stuff is really nice.

I'm glad I didn't just ask about the protectors. I would have never known about 'Hit Air Vest' and Daytona boots. Never heard of either of these. This Hit Air Vest is pretty cool.

I have this chest protector (see below), which I always carry with me to the track, but haven't worn it even once so far (I look ridiculous with it). I wish I wore it a couple of weeks ago when I had a get off and badly bruised my rib cage (nothing broken though). I'll wear it from now on, it's not a beauty contest anyway (not that I'd be competitive without it lol). OP---get a chest protector!

i wear the usual getup minus the chest protector, which i will start to *try* wearing...its tough fitting both a back protector and chest protector into my skin tight suit.

I also wear a proform mouthguard, simply cuz I have one (not at all intrusive). I value my teeth.

Boots is where you can end up spending a lot of money very quickly. But good boots definitely provide better structural protection...say the alpine stars supertech r, dainese axial race, daytona boots.

I usuallt wear a back protector for track and chest/back 1 piece for racing.

Over the last ten or so there has been a huge increase in chest/sternum injuries track side. Most Moto GP riders use a chest protetcor of some kind.
The chest protector that works and is the slimmest is made by http://www.impactarmor.com/
Nicky Hayden actually put this in an A'star cover. It can be custom made and also custom fit for women.
The problem most have with a chest protector is they get it after they buy a suit. So it becomes tight and hard to breath.
Some of the newer suits actually have removable foam pads in the chest area. When these are removed you have room for an aftermarket chest protector.
Some chest proctectors are really poorly designed and uncomfortable. This fact makes them usuless if they are in the trailer when you need it.
Good safety products are not painfull.

I must say that the Knox chest protector, which I posted earlier in this thread, worked pretty well last weekend. No, I didn't "test" it, but once I was on the bike I forgot about any discomfort resulting from having it under the leathers. It's pre-curved and covers a pretty large area. I'll always wear it from now on.
