What Bike To Buy...?

So, as the title suggests, I am looking for a new bike, and I am really torn between the big 4 600's, as well as a couple bikes outside the major 4.

So as far as the major 4 goes, we have the GSX-R600,R6,ZX-6R, and CBR600RR.
In addition, I have always been really drawn towards the Triumph Daytona 675, and don't mind the new Ninja 650's so much either.

Obviously, in terms of price, the Ninja 650 is the least expensive new, but in terms of looks and styling, I also prefer it the least.

Now, I used to ride a SV650S for a couple years, so its not like I am moving up from a 250 or anything, but still, I don't want a bike that is going to kick my *** either. I think all of the above are manageable in terms of power (Daytona being on the high end of that list for sure).
The question I want to pose to all you fine folks is what bike would you suggest? Daytona looks best IMO, followed by the R6, but both of those will also set me into the higher end of the insurance spectrum (23, male, M2 for 3 years now, clean record - sold first bike, getting another now)

Is there anything that really sets these bikes apart? Does it come down to a preference for style and design, since all will essentially do everything and more I would require from it?

I don't mind the new SV650AL's, but seeing as how I rode an older SV previously, I wouldn't mind a little bit of a change.

Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions?

Thanks!

So what are you looking for in a bike, what's your wish list?

As far as wishlist, I guess it is kinda hard to say.

The first bike I had was somewhat unreliable, so that has left me with a little bit of a sour taste, so definitely a bike that is reliable, and I can log quite a few km's on without worrying about engine/mechanical troubles. I have heard mixed reviews on the Daytona about reliability however.

I want something with enough power to keep me going for quite a while. Not looking to purchase another new bike in the foreseeable future, so want something with enough torque/hp to keep me on my toes for a number of years. But I really don't think any of the listed bikes would lack that.

Not really planning anything track-wise, but would love to get out on some longer distance rides. I hear the GSX-R600 has the most natural riding position, so I'd assume that would be more suited to longer rides out of the listed bikes. However...I see everyone and their mother selling GSXR's online...should that be a cause for concern?

Lastly, I just have minor look/style things I enjoy on a bike; but that really won't be a deal breaker. You gotta love how the bike you ride looks!

Yeah, the only real difference is looks and comfort. I don't think the Triumph power is all that different from the others, and insurance should all be about the same too.

Test ride a 600 sometime if you can, might be surprised at how weak they are down low compared to your 650. Really have to wring it out of them in the higher RPM.

^ the Daytona 675 power is quite a bit different from the others; it has more power all along the rev range, and upwards of 10ft-lbs more torque in the midrange.

If you can swing the slightly higher price and insurance premium, get a GSXR750. Nothing at all wrong with GSXRs, you see lots of em for sale because they're produced and sold in relatively high numbers. They also tend to be the cheapest supersports to buy into. They're reliable, comfortable, smooth, and the power is right.

I suggest the 750 if you want something you can truly keep for a long time. The 600s don't have enough grunt, IMO.

So you basically don't know what you want ;-)

All those bikes will full fill your wish list, it is down to looks.

or get a Gsxr 750

Yeah, I mean...I don't have any hard requirements! I just wasn't sure if one of those bikes was stand out above the rest or not.
Will definitely get some insurance quotes for all the bikes then, and see how it plays out.

Thanks for the thoughts. Appreciated.

ok every bike is just as fast. You will not notice the difference down to 0.1sec

some have better/worse braking, handling, different power bands but basically they are all the same

sit on all of them, whichever one is most comfortable....buy. that is all

I'm biased, however, I hate the styling of the new 750's...
Previous models were better looking IMO.

forget the 650, youve been there and done that. (ninja or sv...)

forget the gixxer, you are upgrading...lol gixxer's are downgrades (flame on)

Your only options are zx6 or daytona.

Daytona if you have the cash, they are truly something special.

I think your forgetting some very important factors. If all else is equal then look to which dealership you'd prefer to deal with.
If you plan to do lots of long rides and reliability is a concern then which brand / model has the least number of reported issues.
Another thing you should consider is resale. After you've got all you want out of your new ride what will it's resale or trade in value be?

Just as a reference, I'm about to start my 14th season with my 1998 Ducati 900 Supersport. This is the longest I've ever owned a single motorcycle. It only puts out 75 h.p. at the rear wheel but it has huge torque. It's not the quickest or fastest or sleekest but I've never got off it after a ride without a big smile. Now I'm considering selling it to help fund my new MV F3. With only 35k on it I'm looking at between $5000 and $8000, (depending on what extra goodies the new owner wants with it). It was $13500 new in '98. I think that's damn good return for 13 summers of fun.

The ZX6R 2009 and up are really nice bikes if you want to go with a 600

+if you decided to go with the zx6r go 2009 and up, one of the best 600cc out there. It has a Really nice midrange and also a good top end, not to mentioned the handling its like you ride in a rail track!!
Don't get me wrong bikes now a days they are all nice, they're very similar in power/handling/and style.
Call the insur fist at your age a 600cc could be really expensive!! Daytona is also a beautifull machine but it's going to cost you even more $$$$ to insure.
Happy hunting!!!
